    Job Description

    Position Overview

    The Human Resources (HR) Intern primarily supports the Talent Team’s “pipelines and pathways” function and reports directly to the Senior Director of Teacher & Leader Pathways, Diana Filo. The HR intern will provide administrative and research-based support that will enhance and expedite our ability to track, monitor, communicate with, and support our uncertified teachers in obtaining emergency and/or full instructional teaching certification. The HR Intern will build a nuanced understanding of state requirements as well as local systems and challenges linked to teacher certification, and support the work of researching solutions and supports for unique cases. The HR Intern will build skill in effectively gathering, maintaining, analyzing, and acting on detailed data sets as well as effective practices for direct employee communication. The HR intern will need to be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, with at least 2 of those hours taking place within the standard work day (Monday through Friday between 9:00 and 5:00). We are open to increasing HR Intern hours as needed or as required by their undergraduate or graduate programs.

    Key Responsibilities

    Administrative Support

    • Ensure teachers receive testing vouchers on a timely basis by monitoring requests and sending request forms and purchase orders to Praxis/PECT weekly
    • Close out testing voucher requests weekly by sending approved codes to teachers, tracking assigned codes and dates distributed, and sending teachers the actual vouchers
    • Send all bills to our billing platform for approval in the required format
    • Log in to TIMS (state website) and approve certification requests, upload payment for associated fees, and follow up with state/teachers to ensure official transcripts are uploaded
    • Track emergency certification issue and expiration dates

    Tracking, Analyzing and Responding to Data

    • Log all updates to folks’ certification status or next steps in the KPPS Certification Tracker
    • Administer 2-3 certification surveys across the year, including direct communication and targeted reminders as well as progress completion updates to school leaders
    • Download, codify, and respond to data gathered in surveys
    • Conduct research on solutions or policy related to unique cases

    Creating, Sharing & Implement Certification Supports

    • Create or enhance existing teacher-facing certification support resources that allow teachers to identify steps to take, options to explore, and other guidance as they pursue certification
    • Coordinate a test preparation workshop with Butler College for teachers tackling the PECT/Praxis exam, and own the communication and confirmation of all logistical information with teachers

    Additional relevant projects and tasks as assigned by the Senior Director of Teacher and Leader Pathways

    Compensation

    • This is an unpaid internship. If applicable, we are willing to adjust responsibilities and time commitments to align with a compelling candidate’s college/university requirements so that they can receive credits.
