Postion Description: Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health, you’re a compassionate practice-focused mental health professional looking to work in a school. You show up every day to support your students’ social and emotional needs whether through ongoing counseling or one-off support. You know how to work across schools and the community to find connections to meet student and family need. Every day you are walking in to ensure your students can learn using the tools you develop alongside them.

KIPP St. Louis is hiring a Mental Health Professional for the 2024-25 school year.
Position Overview
KIPP St. Louis Mental Health Professionals (Elementary School Counselor & Social Worker), are at the core of our mission to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths needed to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.

Position type: Full time, exempt, 10 month position
What you will do…
Split time between 2-3 campuses to provide individual and group therapy to address student social emotional challenges
Provide cognitive-behavioral interventions, including brief solution-focused strategies when appropriate
Provide crisis intervention counseling as needed
Maintain a caseload of students receiving regular, ongoing clinical services
Maintain necessary documentation of clinical services
Provide consultation and support to teachers working with students
Provide regular contact with parents to monitor and support progress towards therapeutic goals
Collaborate with a school interdisciplinary team to support school wide attendance efforts, specifically when it comes to following state Truancy Laws
Collaborate with a school interdisciplinary team to provide Tier 2 supports to students
Collaborate with social services professionals to develop appropriate agency services for students and families
Collaborate with Special Education Team to provide related services per a student’s IEP
Participate in school staff teams to develop policies and practices to prevent school violence and support opportunities for team-building and collaboration among students
Create professional learning goals each year; willing to offer support to and receive constructive feedback from colleagues in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to change and improvement
Help shape and develop a school-wide atmosphere that best suits the needs of our students, teachers, and families
Performs other duties relative to the overall operations of KIPP St. Louis Public Schools as assigned

Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
MASTERS IN SOCIAL WORK or MASTERS IN COUNSELING from an accredited university (REQUIRED)
Demonstrated clinical social work skills with individuals, groups, and families
Resourcefulness, flexibility and a highly collaborative mindset
Sensitive and responsive to the needs of others
Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, be flexible, willing and able to play different roles at the school, and to go above and beyond to meet the varied and constant needs of the students of KIPP St. Louis
Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
Unquestioned integrity and commitment to the KIPP St. Louis mission and community
