    Job Description

    ON THE DAY-TO-DAY BASIS, YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THE FOLLOWING:

     

    HELP BUILD A POSITIVE SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM CULTURE

    • Work closely with the Assistant School leader of Culture to establish a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and creative school culture

    • Support teachers to hold all students to high and consistent behavioral expectations

    • At the direction of the Assistant School leader of Culture, assist staff with dealing with behavioral crisis-intervention and acute behavioral issues

    • Assist the Assistant School leader of Culture in the effective creation and implementation of individual behavior plans

    • Assign consequences to students not meeting behavioral expectations in classrooms and the student support office.

    • Reinforce consequences assigned to students not meeting behavioral expectations by teachers and other staff

    • Support the Assistant School leader of Culture’s efforts to ensure all students have excellent attendance and arrive at school on time, and works aggressively with students and parents to ensure excellent attendance

    • Complete home visits, both in the summer, and during the school year, to highlight the responsibilities of parents, teachers, and students

    • Assist with homework collection in the morning, and helps ensure homework is delivered to staff from students appropriately and accurately

    • Support the Assistant School leader of Culture’s’ efforts to ensure that the physical environment of the school reinforces school culture and facilitates student achievement

    • Be highly present and visible during school hours, relentlessly ensuring the school has an exceptional school culture

    • Proactively circulate throughout classrooms and hallways during the day, to gain valuable context on student behavior and help support positive school culture

    • Assist with monitoring behavioral pull-out and in-school suspensions

    • Model the school's values and the standard for professional behavior

    • Assist with  breakfast, lunch, in-between class transitions, enrichment/specials classes, and dismissal, making sure students are always where they are supposed to be and ensuring a professional school culture at these times

    • Manage after school detention as assigned by the Assistant School leader of Culture.

    • Keep accurate student discipline records, documenting all conferences, suspensions, and phone calls for behavior

    • Communicate regularly about the progress of students with parents, teachers and other stakeholders such as school leaders and counselors

    • Support the Assistant School leader of Culture as needed with executing consequences or other follow up actions related to scholar behavior on the school bus to ensure students are exemplary bus riders to and from school

     

    DEMONSTRATE A GROWTH MINDSET

    • Participate as an active member of the school based Student Support Team

    • Be trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention and utilize skills/techniques learned in the training as appropriate

    • Assist the Assistant School leader of Culture in supporting excellence in all classrooms

    • Attend weekly 1:1s with Assistant School leader of Culture

    • Help students process their behavioral choices, set individual goals, and plan follow-up  actions to improve their behavior or demonstrate growth on their character report card

    • Facilitate restorative conversations between students and teachers as determined appropriate by the School Leader

    • Operate a computer and office equipment on a daily basis

    • Occasional moderate lifting, pushing and pulling

    • Maintain emotional control under stress

    • Interpret policy, procedures and data

    • Communicate effectively (verbal and written)

     

    WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE: 

    • Bachelor's Degree or Experience Required

    • Teacher experience preferred

    • Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds and needs

    • Strong organizational and time management skills

    • Ability to accept and implement professional feedback

    • Ability to remain calm and collected in stressful situations

    • Strong communication skills

    • Training in behavioral management techniques
