    Job Description

    ON THE DAY-TO-DAY BASIS, YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THE FOLLOWING:

    DATA-DRIVEN CULTURAL LEADERSHIP 

    • Develop, support and create systems of accountability to ensure discipline systems are executed effectively and consistently, classroom management is strong in all classrooms, and school culture is aligned to the vision of the school and the region. Provide support and development to teachers as necessary. 

    • Manage, coach and evaluate the discipline team through observations, real-time coaching and relevant one-on-one coaching sessions. 

    • Develop proficiency in Observation Feedback, Weekly Data Meeting and Lesson Internalization protocols. 

    • Manage the performance of a cohort of teachers to achieve outcomes for scholars through weekly O3s with each content teacher they coach, including development of instructional strategies and feedback based on observations, content internalization, and the creation of development goals. 

    • Organize and track all observation data and instructional feedback for Specials teachers, all observation data for Discipline team, and all relevant teacher coaching data in Whetstone. 

    • Organize, track and respond to all critical metrics including OSS, discipline referrals, scholar attrition and attendance using school or region-wide organizational systems. Work with the ASL of Operations to respond to this data with action planning on a teacher specific and school-wide level. 

    • Create systems to manage, track and build investment, both scholar and staff, in student facing culture data (i.e. scorecards, paychecks, merits/demerits, etc.).

     

    PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 

    • Lead teacher cohort(s) to set and achieve individual development goals, based on school or region-wide goals and grounded in student achievement data. 

    • Collaborate with the ASLs of Operations and Instruction to execute school-wide rituals, like community meetings, pep rallies, whole school assemblies, field trips, and various year-long incentive systems (Accelerated Reader, MAP, NWEA, etc). 

    • Collaborate with ASLs of Operations and Instruction to create systems that support and empower scholars, families and staff to be successful in their roles and feel valued as employees. 

    • Serves as on campus point person for Social Worker and Counselor and works with regional manager of mental health to provide feedback and support for this role (management and development of social worker/counselor varies at School Leader discretion). Work with them to connect to outside resources as necessary.

    • Build and facilitate effective teams, characterized by trust, investment in goals, accountability for required actions and clear ownership of academic results and culture on the team. 

    • Provide professional development opportunities for all staff around culture, including 1:1 intervention, classroom management coaching, and weekly Culture Huddles. 

    • Pursue personal professional development and growth opportunities. 

    • Maintain personal organizational systems, project prioritization decision making, and strong time management skills, including updated and intentional weekly calendar that aligns to other members of the leadership team. 

    • Own his/her professional development and growth by leveraging lifelines within the region and the broader KIPP network, asking for and implementing feedback weekly, and pursuing additional professional development and growth opportunities both within and outside the region. 

    • Seeks professional development and information about new methods for social emotional learning, child development, trauma informed teaching and leading, and responsive interventions to develop their own skillset.

    • Identify high potential talent and develop accordingly, manage performance with the support of the school leader, manage the growth and capacity building of next-ready leaders (GLCs, Department Chairs, and high-potential teachers).

     

    SCHOOL CULTURE AND CLIMATE 

    • Conduct weekly walk-throughs in his/her grade levels specifically focused on urgent culture monitoring and respond to observation data in the moment through real time coaching. Utilize data from walkthroughs to follow up with OF coaching sessions to ensure all teachers are “in the green” for management and routines. 

    • Conduct weekly walk-throughs focused on a specific culture routine and/or grade level and respond to observation data in the moment through real time coaching. 

    • Plan and lead or co-lead school-wide rituals, like community meetings, pep rallies, whole school assemblies, and various year-long incentive systems (Accelerated Reader, MAP, NWEA, etc). 

    • Own a minimum of one school wide culture routine and/or initiative in its entirety: write or revise the routine, lead Professional Development, progress monitor and close gaps as they arise based on the regional routines rubric. Ensure that the routine is “proficient” and maintains this score throughout the year. 

    • Establish and uphold school culture norms and hold teachers and scholars accountable to norms and expectations, both in classrooms and in shared spaces. Work with the leadership team to create a positive school culture where scholars feel valued, affirmed and validated and have the chance to take ownership of their school. 

    • Create and monitor a discipline system in its entirety, including immediate processing of a referral, issuing of a consequence, following up with parents within 24 hours, following up with teachers within 24 hours, and hosting reintegration meetings for scholars who are removed from class or school.

     

    LEADERSHIP MINDSET AND ACTION 

    • Participate in all diversity, equity and inclusion work at a school and regional level. Embody mindsets that work towards equity for our scholars and staff and model person-first thinking and the ability to have discussions about identity (race, gender, ethnicity, etc.) 

    • Participate in and collaborate as a member of the school leadership team, instructional leadership team and regional leadership team to ensure all students meet school goals. 

    • Sees the leadership team as “the first team” and acts to ensure the team is united in messaging and communication. Immediately follows through on next steps and acts urgently, when needed, so that the leadership team consistently moves the school forward. 

    • Lives the values and expectations of all staff every day and in all spaces and embraces challenging conversations, speaking directly with the appropriate person to solve problems.
