    Job Description

    Working at KIPP St. Louis High School, your passion is for your students and scientific discovery. You want to share your love of the biological sciences with your students helping them understand not only how their bodies work but how we interact with one another. You want students to be able to see a calorie in action and identify the mitochondria in a cell. As a biology teacher, you are here every day to show your students the importance of asking questions and seeking answers that are replicable and measurable.

    POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Exempt, 10 months

    TENTATIVE START DATE: July 24, 2023

    ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS, YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THE FOLLOWING:

    Curriculum Development and Instruction

    • Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
    •  Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments
    •  Use data to inform instructional decisions
    •  Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning needs

    Help Build a Positive School and Classroom culture

    • Embody and maintain school’s values, policies, and culture
    •  Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff
    •  Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress
    •  Effectively supervise and manage a classroom of up to 30 students
    •  Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and more

    Demonstrate a Growth Mindset

    • Pursue challenging professional goals each year
    • Give and receive positive and constructive feedback from your colleagues
    • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development

    SCHOOL-BASED STAFF STAFF MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO...

    • Occasional moderate lifting, pushing, and pulling

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Valid Missouri Teacher Certification or willingness to become certified ASAP (required)
    • Pass Criminal Background Check
