    Job Description

    TEAM MISSION: The KIPP Texas Strategy Team creates information and insights that will catalyze our highest-impact strategies, in order to move closer to our shared mission of our KIPPsters leading fulfilling lives and building a more just world. 

    TEAM FUNCTIONS: The Strategy Team focuses on identifying and managing the execution of major strategic priorities across the organization. The Strategy team leads several permanent functions, including multi-year and annual strategic planning; local and statewide expansion; research and evaluation; and analytics. Ultimately, the Strategy Team is responsible for the successful execution of the organization’s 2025 strategic plan. 

    ROLE OVERVIEW: The Consultant, Strategic Projects will be a member of the Strategy Team and will directly report to the Managing Director of Strategic Projects. The Consultant will be responsible for supporting the project management, execution, and progress monitoring of cross-functional strategic projects identified as priorities for KIPP Texas.

    Projects belonging to this team include, but are not limited to: assessing the viability of school expansion, supporting the opening of new schools and growing feeder patterns within KIPP Texas, codifying cross-functional playbooks for various school opening scenarios, and shepherding the KIPP Texas multi-year and annual plan creation, execution, and progress monitoring. 

    This position may be based out of the Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio offices. Some travel may be required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Project Management and Coordination: Support Project Directors in creating and managing robust project plans as needed to ensure project success. Support the implementation of a cycle of focused, productive meetings to drive the project from kick-off to completion. Work closely with the Managing Director to ensure project management processes and tools are codified and ready for replication and adaptation.

    • Progress Monitoring: Support Project Directors in maintaining the systems to monitor progress throughout the life of the strategic project, including cross-functional processes as necessary. 

    • Stakeholder Management: Support Project Directors in engaging with stakeholders throughout the life cycle of a project, which may include: drafting agendas and supporting cross-functional work group meeting logistics; proposing facilitation techniques to achieve meeting objectives; and drafting communications and presentations that may be sent to the Board and leadership-level stakeholders.

    • Problem Solving: Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis and synthesis to support recommendations on the path forward in solving complex challenges. Bring a curious and solutions-oriented approach to thought partnership conversations with internal and external colleagues. Demonstrate confidence in recommending solutions and innovative ideas for consideration.

    • Team Culture: Contribute to Strategy Team culture through authentic engagement and participation in meetings and retreats. Participate actively in development opportunities, including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) sessions. Volunteer as interested to serve on the team’s Connection Committee. Give honest, constructive feedback via established feedback mechanisms (e.g., staff surveys) to ensure the continued improvement of the team and the organization. Seek to work by the values of the organization and to act in alignment with the Strategy Team’s community agreements. Represent the Strategy Team responsibly to other stakeholders within and outside the organization.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university.

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in a project management, strategy, education, or consulting-type role preferred.

    • Demonstrated experience fostering strong working relationships across multiple functional areas (e.g., academics, talent, finance, operations, etc.).

    • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

    • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.

    • Strong stakeholder management and service-orientation.

    • Self-directed and results-oriented, demonstrating initiative and follow-through.

    • Experience with charter or charter-like schools, non-profit strategy, non-profit consulting, and/or with students in low-income urban environments is preferred, not required.

    • Ability to model KIPP’s values at all times.
