Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
As part of the Communications, Marketing, and Creative team, the Internal Communications Manager, led by the Director of Internal Communications, will manage all aspects of communications for our team of 4,000+ staff called Big KIPPsters and our KIPP families with 33,000+ students across four regions (Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio). You will steward KIPP’s brand locally, regionally, and nationally by spearheading KIPP Texas’ internal communications strategy and will also support staff and family messaging efforts.
S/he/They will report to the Director of Internal Communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and oversee internal communications strategy, which includes but is not limited to:
STAFF COMMUNICATIONS:
- Lead KIPP Texas’ intranet efforts, including strategy, content creation, calendars, governance, and maintenance.
- Build yearly internal communications goals around the growth of intranet use, such as visits (total and unique), engagement, and more.
- Track analytics of intranet use and present weekly to the director of internal communications.
- Cross collaborate with teams to find compelling content and write for diverse audiences through a variety of internal communications mediums, such as emails, newsletters, presentations, and intranet news posts.
- Provide oversight for staff communications guidelines and/or communications requests.
- Lead efforts on regional newsletter content writing.
- Provide strategies and methods for collecting staff feedback for internal communications.
- Track analytics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of staff messaging.
- Answer emails sent to the intranet’s email address.
STAFF EVENTS:
- Partner with the Communications Team to support staff events by building, managing, and executing high-visibility communications that inform, engage, and inspire employees to participate in our event programs.
- Plan, draft, and execute a run-of-show for KIPP Texas staff events such as Rise Together Chats, Team and Family Reunion, Town Halls and more.
- Ensure important communication messages are shared about the events, from preparation and save-the-dates to recaps, by posting to the KIPP Texas intranet.
FAMILY COMMUNICATIONS:
- Provide campus-level resources, training, and best practices for family communications applications.
- Partner with the Academics, Student & Family Persistence, and Student Recruitment Teams to develop family-oriented collateral, including templates and/or pushed messages for all schools/families.
- Cross collaborate with teams to find compelling content for family messaging.
- Find and create content, develop, and project manage publications for families that help steward persistence and brand awareness.
- Ensure family communication is timely, consistent, and rooted in a scalable and sustainable strategic framework as KIPP Texas’ student population grows.
- Provide oversight for family communications guidelines and/or communications requests.
- Create and update key messaging with compelling content by partnering with teams to keep the information current.
- Partner with schools and school departments to ensure website content and information is accurate, current, and updated.
- Update website to ensure easy readability for all families
In collaboration with the director of external and internal communications, assist with crisis communications and social media strategy.
