Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Career Integration Coordinator will be responsible for managing KIPP TX Austin’s career integration alignment with KTC’s top priorities of College Match and College Persistence. This role is aimed at supporting high school KIPPsters and alums through exploring their interests and abilities, career options and college majors, along with organizational partnerships to create career exposure and internship opportunities and requires managing both internal and external stakeholders including members of our state and regional leadership.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Manager of Career Integration will:
MANAGE AND PROGRESS MONITORING ASSESSMENTS AND OTHER KEY CAREER INTEGRATION INDICATORS THROUGH THE COLLEGE COUNSELING TEAMS ON EACH HIGH SCHOOL
Collaborate with the college counseling managers and their teams to develop a timeline for the critical moves necessary to achieve career integration into the college match process.
Manage the development and implementation of Career exploration and pathway development initiatives
Motivate buy-in from school leaders, along with state and regional leadership on access and opportunities of all KIPPsters in experiential learning opportunities based on career assessment data
Lead training on utilizing career interest assessments and surveys and results analysis for all KTC staff in collaboration with Match and Foundational metrics and tools
Develop curriculum for integrating career exploration and exposure in the college match process
Utilize assessment, survey results and student interest to develop relationships with organizational partners, college partners and government entities for career exposure and summer of learning opportunities
DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT CAREER INTEGRATION INITIATIVES
Lead trainings and workshops for faculty and staff on the soft skills necessary to be successful in the work environment
Schedule and manage logistics for programming and event logistics involving district-wide participation in career focused events
Support college counselling teams in guiding and informing students on potential career pathways and goal setting based on both quantitative and qualitative data assessments
Support counselors in hosting family meetings on internship and summer of learning opportunities available to students
Work with faculty and staff to support career integration in other content courses and as a critical piece of the college match process and college persistence process
WORKING WITH ALUMNI
Work with the Persistence Managers and the Alumni Advisors to promote career pathways and opportunities with KIPP alumni
Work with board members, staff, the development team and employed alums through job opportunities that may become available for students
Create and Develop the training and support of alumni advisors to counsel students who are not engaged in work or education and support their successful transition to a positive path
Develop internship opportunities both internally and externally to engage alums in career experiential opportunities
Implement region-wide special events for alums aimed at developing college and career goals including career assessments, survey, job searching, creating a career plan, etc.
DEVELOP AND ENGAGE PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS AND COLLEGE PARTNERS IN CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Work with partner organizations to develop internships and career opportunities for alums
Develop a robust knowledge of local vocational training programs and maintain relationships
Develop and execute the recruitment and application process through counselor and advising teams for Career Programming at partner institutions
Cultivate, solicit, and develop matching internship opportunities and full time employment opportunities with businesses and organizations for current KIPPsters and alumni
Support Career Partner Orgs during internships and managing evaluations
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.
Experience managing career development and programming for students
Experience working with underserved youth in urban populations
Ability to manage others in implementing and aligning new and developing initiatives
SKILLS:
Comfort with working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment
Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to work with a wide-range of people including teachers, parents, students, and admissions personnel
Intelligent, driven self-starter with a demonstrated track record of success in developing and executing on a long-term, multi-tiered strategy
Extremely detail and process oriented, able to develop and implement internal systems necessary to build capacity and organizational structure
Proven written and verbal communication skills
Outstanding project management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines
Proficiency in Google Docs and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, fax machines, scanners, and telephones
Excellent driving record and reliable transportation
Experience using the internet and social media websites
Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
