    Job Description

    THE OPPORTUNITY

    KTX Student Support Services (S3) exists to prevent, respond to, and minimize the barriers to learning that KTX students may experience. School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) is a component program of S3, serving to provide a comprehensive developmental school mental health program that seeks to meet the needs of the whole student. 

    The SBMH Team is led by the S3 Director of Student Wellness. Reporting to the Director of Student Wellness, the Intern Program Coordinator will support SBMH staff in the direct supervision of SBMH interns in the four regions of KTX

    The Intern Program Coordinator will work directly with KTX SBMH staff members, students, teachers and parents to provide supervision of interns who provide case management services and coordinate external support partners.

    The Intern Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting campuses with coordinating student support services that enhances the academic success of students. This position performs responsive professional work by collaborating with KTX programs and community agencies to expand social services to students, engage with colleagues and programs within KTX to provide social work support, and facilitate learning opportunities for master-level social work interns. This involves promoting and overseeing activities delivered by master-level social work interns to ensure successful program outcomes related to improved student outcomes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work collaboratively with regional departments, campus administration, staff, and external agency partners to ensure program requirements and outcome measures are met.

    • Continue to develop and ensure a strong working relationship with University Social Work Intern programs across the state of Texas.

    • Work cooperatively with appropriate public agencies and private grant funding agencies for coordination of programs.

    • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate Masters in  Social Worker interns with university partners to provide quality field experiences at the campus and KTX level.

    • Develop, arrange and/or conduct orientation and training opportunities for social work including training on KTX policies related to student safety.

    • Supervise and monitor interns’ work throughout the school year, including the provision of consultation during crisis situations. Provide as needed consultation for campus-based staff.

    • Assemble feedback to guide continuous improvement of social work supportive services.

    • Participate in continuous training, meetings, and conferences to ensure program success and stay up-to-date on current educational and school social work and professional counseling trends.

    • Dedicated to providing an exceptional customer experience for all KIPP Texas stakeholders with intentional and professional practices that promote a culture of respect and focus on achieving equitable outcomes.

    • Maintain necessary documentation of services to students and families.

    • Lead professional development for staff members and provide strategies for how to best support students.

    • Provide regular oversight of Social Work interns to ensure regular contact with parents to monitor and support progress regarding supports.

    • Coordinate people and other resources in the school, home, and community to promote student success. Use an effective process when referring students, parents, and/or others to special programs and services.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Valid Texas licensure as a Masters Level Social Worker which must remain active throughout employment required.

    • Three (3) years of related experience in the area of social services is required.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of crisis assessment,  counseling skills,  case management skills with individuals, groups, and families

    • Knowledge of working with an underserved population

    • Highly collaborative, resourceful and flexible

    • Sensitive and responsive to the needs of others

    • LCSW preferred but not required

    • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred but not required
