    REMOTE WORK FLEXIBILITY

    The Supervisor, Design Engineering is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of all design engineer projects while maximizing profitability and meeting customer commitments according to schedule. This position will develop a standardized and certified submittal process flow for Hydroflo sales and operations teams to produce the utmost quality product. This position will manage the planning and processes of a project and delegate responsibilities to ensure the project is completed efficiently and successfully.

    Measures of success:

    • 100% on-time delivery and accuracy of submittal packages for customers
    • Maximize project efficiency and profitability
    • Ensure bill of material accuracy objectives are achieved

     

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Design Engineering

    • Analyzes technical project requirements of customer quotes to oversee product design engineering.
    • Coordinates the creation of product blueprints and other engineering data.
    • Directs preparations for product layout, detailed drawings, and schematics.
    • Generates necessary part numbers, descriptions, and costing to create accurate bill of materials.
    • Ensures the accuracy of drawings and adherence to established organizational standards and objectives.
    • Plans, establishes, and communicates product design engineering schedules to provide on-time delivery.
    • Directs and coordinates manufacturing of prototype product.
    • Develop experimental testing and analysis to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
    • Collaborates with cross-functional team members to develop a comprehensive project submittal process that is approved and certified by an engineer.
    • Identify and resolve process bottlenecks to improve on-time delivery.
    • Release approved work orders to production.
    • Study engineering and technical publications to remain current with industry and technological developments.

    People Management

    • Evaluate team members to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; collaborate on development actions and ensure resources necessary to complete actions
    • Cascade relevant and appropriate information about the company and department effectively and in a timely manner
    • Coach and mentor for skill and knowledge development
    • Execute necessary responsibilities of team during absences or alternate engagement
    • Ensure team adheres to company policies, practices, and department standards
    • Assign actions and ensure completion
    • Review work quality and coach team

     

    The Supervisor, Design Engineering will work in a remote office setting where they may be required to work on a computer for extended periods of time and be occasionally exposed to production facility where personal protective equipment may be required.

    This position has approximately 2 number of direct reports.  Roles include:

    • Engineering Technician
    • CAD Specialist

    Required Skills

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering
    • 3+ years’ experience in the vertical turbine pump industry
    • 3+ years of supervisory experience
    • Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and pivot as necessary
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to present information in a clear and concise manner
    • Outstanding customer service skills embrace the easiest company to do business with
    • Strong knowledge and experience working with computer-aided design (CAD) programs
    • Able to work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external customers
    • Ability to travel within the United States 20% of time

     

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in Design, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering
    • 5+ years’ experience in the vertical turbine pump industry
    • 5+ years of supervisory/managerial experience
    • Professional Engineer (PE) License
    • Knowledge and experience working with Salesforce, Epicor, SolidWorks, and/or Intelliquip
