Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Campus Life and Student Success (CLaSS), the Director of Student Development & Campus Vibrancy will provide strategic leadership to the Student Development and Campus Vibrancy team encompassing New Student Orientation and Transition Programs, Student Clubs and Organizations, the Student Government Association, Student Leadership Initiatives, Fraternity and Sorority Involvement, Campus Vibrancy and Traditions, Commuter Student Services, and Student Media. The Director will be a campus catalysts for student community, leadership, development and belongingness empowering campus stakeholders through strategic partnership.
Through a strong student empowerment model the Director of Student Development & Campus Vibrancy will:
Provide strategic vision and leadership and for an integrated unit that collaboratively invigorates campus life; creating an engaged, inclusive and vibrant community dedicated to student success from deposit through graduation.
Directly recruit, train, and supervise one Associate Director, three Assistant Directors, and one part-time professional, with indirect supervision of one assistant director, five graduate assistant/intern level positions, and one administrative assistant.
Provide high-level strategic vision, direction, and leadership to all areas within the department including:
Collaborate extensively with Residential Living & Learning colleagues to create inclusive communities of in which all undergraduate students can belong, engage, be challenged, and learn.
Collaborate and partner with campus stakeholders (e.g., faculty, enrollment, and other CLaSS areas) to direct and implement a comprehensive first-year experience and extended orientation. Play a
critical role in the coordination of the First year seminar experience. This includes, but is not limited to training the Teaching Apprentices (TAs), assisting with Faculty Development, assessment, and information sharing.
Champion the thoughtful and strategic use of “HatterSync,” which is Stetson’s organization management software powered by OrgSync. Serve as the lead facilitator for the group of key institutional partners.
Collect and interpret student learning, satisfaction, retention, and success data to inform the development of an intentional, cross-cutting, comprehensive menu of involvement experiences.
Responsible for stewardship of significant fiscal and human resources.
Provide leadership for annual program calendar planning, creation, and dissemination/management.
Serve as a high-level hearing officer for major cases and on the Title IX team as an Investigator/Hearing Officer.
Review and provide direction for student service operations (union management, organization applications, event registration, etc.) while striving to be student-centered, efficient, and user-friendly.
Represent the office / division on strategic University committees.
Perform other intentional duties that contribute to the University mission as assigned.
