Job Description
The Development Associate is an integral member of the KQED Leadership Gifts team that raises contributions from individuals making gifts of $1,500 and above. The Development Associate is responsible for providing administrative support to the major donor program. Under the Direction of the Associate Director, Annual Giving, responsibilities include: supporting the KQED individual major gifts efforts through the production of monthly solicitation letters, assisting with donor communication, Board Committee and donor meeting support, and providing fundraising support to the leadership gifts team.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Fundraising and donor communications support: Responsible for assisting with mailings (i.e. merges and prints letters, stuffs envelopes, addresses envelopes, generates labels, etc.), with a special focus on the production of regular/monthly solicitation and stewardship mailings. Assist with the creation, drafting and editing of stewardship and cultivation written communications for the Leadership Gifts team; Assist with the copywriting and production of “one touch” informational/cultivation communications (either physical letters or emails); Write copy and send monthly Go Public major donor newsletter through Marketing Cloud; Provide backup support to the Associate Director, Annual Giving on electronic communications through Marketing Cloud; Create occasional proposals for donors who request more detailed information on a given topic; Assemble and mail Signal Society welcome packets. Work with other departments to identify and collect content ideas for stewardship materials. This position will also draft and develop written and electronic materials as needed and proof materials for major gift officers. (35%)
- Donor support: Assist Associate Director, Annual Giving, with donor inquiries by phone or email; Check major gift inboxes and voicemails, forwarding as necessary to the MGO or appropriate department; Answer general donation and membership queries from donors as needed; Order premiums for major donors; Mail On KQED magazines as requested; Provide backup acknowledgement support during high volume gift processing periods. (35%)
- Performs Leadership Gifts general mailing and office support. Providing support for Leadership Gifts team meetings. Performs specific Leadership Gifts general office administrative duties such as the ordering of office supplies and maintaining inventory of premiums for Leadership Gifts; and other duties as assigned. (15%)
- Meeting support. Coordinate aspects of all on-site meetings for Leadership Gifts team and Development managed Board meetings such as the Development Steering Committee and Major Gift Committee “including the creation and coordination of meeting materials including PowerPoint presentations. Executes the organization, planning, and preparation of the TV, computer, table, food and beverages, as well as clean-up and takes minutes for Development managed Board meeting. (10%)
- Performs other essential duties as assigned. (5%)
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
- Minimum of two years experience in development, preferably in the annual fund or major gift area.
- Knowledgeable of various computer hardware and software including word processing, database, and spreadsheet functions; MS Office knowledge is required, Salesforce and Marketing Cloud experience is helpful.
- Ability to work well on multiple, simultaneous projects under pressure with differing deadlines.
- The individual should be energetic, self-directed and assertive, but also flexible, creative and understanding.
- Communication and interpersonal skills must be at the highest possible level; Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels, donors, volunteers, as well as the public.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational training preferred.
