Introduction We are currently looking to staff our Summer 2023 and Fall 2024 Internship Programs. Our internship program is an excellent opportunity for students to be introduced to indirect taxation while developing their professional and technical skills. The Internship is 20+ hours per week and we offer a flexible work schedule to promote work-life balance. Our internships are long-term with the possibility for growth and development within the Firm. Company Profile KSM is a boutique motor fuels tax accounting firm. We specialize in motor fuels tax compliance and consulting services for oil and gas companies. The internship with our firm will provide hands-on tax return preparation and exposure to tax research. Internships are part-time (around 20+ hours per week) and long-term. We offer training, a flexible schedule, and the opportunity for growth within the company. Position Summary The Intern uses business and accounting acumen, in conjunction with the responsibilities outlined below, to: • Support preparation of U.S. Federal and State motor fuels tax return filings. • Research issues surrounding motor fuels tax registration and filing requirements. • Implement tax automation software that facilitates motor fuels tax returns. preparation and filing. • He or she provides support for the Supervisor and contributes in a cooperative, respectful manner to enhance the work of others and promote a team environment. Responsibilities • Tax Return Preparer • Minimal interaction with Client(s) • Able to conduct tax research with guidance • Can reconcile using Excel and following a defined process • Supports the project team to identify and resolve issues; learns to articulate needs • Able to complete technical writing assignments with guidance Mission Statement It is the Mission of KSM to provide oil and gas industry clients with highly specialized services in the area of motor fuels taxation by sharing our depth of experience and technical expertise.
