    The Retail Studio is a tight knit group that works collaboratively with all KTGY offices and studios to curate spaces focused on not only function and form but also experience. Whether it is ground-up development or adaptive re-use the studio is looking to deliver next-level designs that shape the fabric of the communities in which we live, work and play.

    Role Overview

    KTGY is looking for a Design Principal with Retail expertise who can demonstrate exceptional vision, creativity, and engage in the design of a broad range of retail architecture. We want to tap into your creative energy, give you the freedom to develop fresh ideas to help take us to the next level!

    The Design Principal will report to the Managing Principal, while collaborating with Clients and the inter-studio staff. This position will have the opportunity to assist in overall design concepts from site planning to building design, and development of junior staff while working to enhance the design team. This is an in-person position.

    Key Job Functions

    • Working on design projects and collaboration within the Retail studio.
    • Combines an understanding of the customer journey with an exploration of architecture, brand expression, and technology integration to create a cohesive and elevated shopping experiences.
    • Participating in Client meetings with the Executive Director of Design and gain the first-hand information before commencing design.
    • Establish design concepts and assist in technical aspects to ensure design integration and innovation.
    • Lead communication and coordination efforts with clients and consultant team.
    • Perform preliminary code analysis.
    • Compile and submit projects to city planning departments.
    • Attend public hearings and agency meetings if necessary.
    • Review and participate in project billings.
    • Consistently verify accuracy of own work and the work of others.
    • Educate and mentor junior staff.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    • Accurate and detail oriented.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain effective communication and quality control.
    • Advanced understanding and proficiency using the following software:
      • AutoCad and/or REVIT
      • Sketch Up and other 3D software
      • Adobe Suite
      • MS Office

    Education and Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years of Retail Architecture Design experience
    • 4-year Architectural degree and/or combination of required education and experience
    • Understanding of building codes, including national and state local codes.
    • Licensed Architect (Preferred)
    • Understanding of design and entitlement processes

    The wage range that the Company expects to pay is $125,000 - $175,000.
