    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    Reporting to the CFO and CEO, the Controller is a key member of the accounting and finance team supporting Empower Clinics Inc. You will lead and mentor the department and help grow the accounting team for our continuously growing company.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You are a natural leader and superstar accountant that takes ownership of their work and strives for continuous improvement. You have a vision for how your accounting department should function, and you have the motivation to make your vision a reality. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and get into the details when needed. Your priority is to develop/run a high performing team.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Utilize interpersonal skills to lead and develop the accounting team.
    • Be able to analyze, anticipate problems, project consequences and find the best solution.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all parties involved with the business.
    • Oversee timely month-end close cycles and completion of day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping.
    • Oversee the timeliness and accuracy of the Company’s books for integration into the consolidated financial statements for quarterly financial reporting.
    • Oversee and review bi-weekly payroll and remittances.
    • Plan, execute, mentor, and deliver on projects to improve and streamline the accounting function.
    • Create effective financial projections and budgets and use analytical skills to interpret results.
    • Manage the chart of accounts, lead the accounting team through the various reconciliations, provide support for medical billing.
    • Manage the cash flow and treasury function by always knowing the Company’s cash needs.
    • Prepare tax compliance filings and liaise with the Company’s tax accountants. Experience preparing state and federal tax filings is a benefit.
    • Using Microsoft Excel, present information, reports and financial statements to our management.

    TRAINING & EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
    • Minimum 4 years of general accounting experience required
    • CPA designation
    • Strong software skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Experience with QuickBooks Online is a benefit
