    Do you love Barbeque? “America’s Barbeque Expert,” the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, celebrating, promoting and educating the public about barbeque as a distinctively American cuisine. KCBS is a membership-based organization with nearly 20,000 members (judges, cooks, organizers, etc.) across the United States and in 42 countries.  KCBS is the leading sanctioning body in food sport; sanctioning 500+ contests annually across the world. KCBS partners with companies and brands who share a desire to reach the backyard smoking, grilling and live-fire cooking audience. We are looking to grow into the future by continuing to focus on our core audience, while expanding into new audiences, developing new programs and building additional partnerships. 

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Support Contest Manager, Contest Representative Chair and CEO to work with KCBS Contest Representatives on assigning Reps based on contest schedules
    • Work with Contest Manager and KCBS Contest Reps to collect and file all necessary annual paperwork (i.e. W-9’s, Independent Contractor agreements, etc).
    • Support Contest Manager, Rep Chair and CEO with creating and disseminating information to KCBS Contest Representatives.
    • Update contests on KCBS website with assigned KCBS Contest reps.
    • Maintain and keep current Contest Representative information (i.e. contact information, payment arrangements, etc).
    • Support Contest Manager with keeping all records for qualifying KCBS contest and programs current.
    • Support Contest Manager as needed on analytics and reporting initiatives on Contests and Reps.
    • Drive member relations as first point of contact with KCBS members and customers; answering phones and emails with a positive presence to understand their needs, questions or concerns. Help with membership renewals and registrations as members contact KCBS via phone and email.
    • Route other calls as necessary for Judging Programs, Marketing/Partnerships and Operations.
    • Help Members as needed to guide them with self-service functions within the website.
    • Work with Contest Manager to order supplies as needed for Contests. Process any follow-ups needed after each contest is complete; including updating members information from class into membership data base.
    • Support Contest Manager as needed for any fulfillment of trophies, stickers, recognition, etc. for KCBS Team of the Year or other programs.
    • Support Contest Manager as needed with proc processing Team of the Year points on Monday and updating Jack/Royal/WI spreadsheets
    • ROLE IS PART-TIME, WITH APPROXIMATELY 20 HOURS PER WEEK.

    MISC.:

    • Support staff with updates of key initiatives to provide to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
    • Complete other projects and tasks as assigned.
    • Answer and direct phone calls to proper office staff.
    • Support Board of Director committees as needed

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • 1-3 years professional experience preferred.
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Program implementation experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, flexible and collaborative with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Proactive mindset with the ability to take minimal direction and lead their programs and projects.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and positive, can-do attitude.
    • Proficiency in Office; Excel, Word and Power Point. Proficiency in Google; Email, Docs, Drive.
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a commitment to the KCBS mission.
