    Job Description

    KCC is seeking an enthusiastic IT administrator to join our growing team.  We are a software and consulting firm located in the Back Bay of Boston, focused on the scientific modelling of global catastrophes including earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes. You’ll be working alongside weather scientists, software developers, and insurance industry experts to apply cutting edge research onto equally sophisticated hardware and networks. You will be upgrading and installing hardware and software, performing troubleshooting to resolve IT issues, and maintaining our networks and servers, which also includes our cloud assets in AWS. The position also involves monitoring our information security program and the installation and troubleshooting of our in-house developed software into client environments. 

    To ensure success as an IT administrator, you should possess extensive experience in IT administration and the ability to optimize the performance of our IT infrastructure without compromising security. An accomplished IT administrator will be someone whose technical expertise results in enhanced IT system efficiency across company structures.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Monitoring and maintaining networks and servers. 
    • Upgrading, installing and configuring new hardware and software to meet company objectives. 
    • Researching and quoting new hardware & software solutions and improvements.
    • Implementing security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats, following and adapting CIS standards. 
    • Gathering and examining software logs to determine issues, and provide resolutions. 
    • Maintaining and improving documentation. 
    • Keeping up to date with advancements and best practices in IT administration.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience 
    • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience.
    • Extensive experience with IT systems, networks, and related technologies. 
    • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
    • Solid knowledge of best practices in IT administration and system security. 
    • Exceptional organizational, and time management skills. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
    • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus.
    • Cloud based system experience involving AWS and Azure.
