    JOB DESCRIPTION

    TITLE:     EMERGENCY UPFIT TECHNICIAN

    DEPARTMENT:   EMERGENCY UPFIT

    SUMMARY: Complete installations for diverse range of vehicle makes and models. Professionally  upfit  wide variety of  emergency vehicles.  Diagnose, repair, and install electrical components on vehicle upfits and builds. Interacts with customers to help in assessing and identifying additional needs that will assist in the daily use of their vehicles.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    INSTALLATION: Complete installations for diverse range of vehicle makes and models. Review job requirements and determine optimal equipment placement and installation limitations, installing all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles. Installations include, but not limited to; routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, and consoles. Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles. Identifies, researches and resolves complex technical problems. Servicing existing equipment by troubleshooting customer complaints; conducting tests; resolving issues .

    QUALITY: Assures installation work is performed at the rate and specifications required by the customer and agreed upon by the dealership. Solve problems and improve processes. Participate in continuous improvement activities. Organize work so all installations are completed efficiently and in a timely manner. Pay close attention to detail, working to achieve error-free performance. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with wiring and equipment. Collaborate with team to develop effective quality and performance improvement initiatives.

    PROFESSIONALISM: Properly allocating time spent on repair orders. Participate in technical training as assigned by management, applying what is learned.  Review technical documents and other publications.   Follow all department and dealership personnel policies. Continuous learning and development in new products, skills and techniques Complete all required paperwork and documentation

    CUSTOMER SERVICE: Ensure a timely turnaround of vehicles. Assists with maintaining and recommending the proper inventory and supply levels for the efficient installation of products.  Develop strong working relationships.  Create and maintain a culture of outstanding customer service, for both internal and external customers.

    SAFETY:  Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping and machine cleaning tasks Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements and procedures.  Wear appropriate eye, ear, or skin safety protection when necessary.  Participate in cleaning the group area prior to leaving work each day. Handles all toxic hazardous waste according to appropriate policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS: GED or High school diploma with basic mathematics and language skills, Experience working with automotive electrical systems. Good organizational skills and a methodical approach to work. Good team work and customer service skills. Strong attention to detail.  Have a valid driver's license; Strong attendance record. Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds;  Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and vehicle schematics.
