Katmai Tech Inc. is a fast growing, innovative software development company with an exciting new product. We focus on Virtual Worlds, Video Conferencing, and Video Chat. We combine traditional two-dimensional (flat) video conferencing with an in-browser three-dimensional virtual world, allowing us to craft new collaboration experiences for our customers and reimagine remote work, gaming, and connections. with HQs in Anchorage Alaska, we are an experienced, fully remote team of engineers working primarily in New York / Eastern Time Zone and our schedule is flexible since we're all working remote.

Katmai is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the team to help architect and build the next generation of remote work experience. Successful candidates will have in depth experience leading teams, architecting software for growth while promoting coding best practices. In this role you will build highly interactive web-based 3D and video applications across the stack using Java Script (Typescript, Node.js, Three.js, WebGL, etc.).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the team delivers extraordinary output.
• Help establish direction for the team and guide engineering vision.
• Architect important systems and anticipate strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning.
• Write code as we expect our technical leadership to be in the trenches alongside junior engineers, understanding root causes and leading by example.
• Collaborate closely with Product and UX Design to overcome sophisticated challenges with innovative technical solutions for business and operational objectives. • Mentor engineers, both junior and senior.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• BS/BA in a computer field or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on technical lead who enjoys architecting, coding, and implementing within a strong engineering culture.
• Demonstrated experience building large scale projects / features, process improvement, and best practices.
• Demonstrated experience with process improvements / best practices. • Experience with A-Frame and WebGL is preferred. Vue is a plus.
• Strong JavaScript and/or Typescript, CSS, HTML, & Browser development tools.
• Experience building APIs and writing applications that scale.
• Knowledge of server technologies such as Linux, Apache, Ruby on Rails, etc.
• Experience with Node.js, Three.js, and or WebSocket is highly desirable.
• Experience with AWS technologies and Agile Software Development methodology
• Solid understanding of the software life cycle development process (SDLC) including business and functional requirements, developing detailed technical documents, implementing testable solutions, and delivering impactful and complex software projects
