    JOB TITLE: Environmental Educator

    POSITION STATUS: Part Time, 20-25 hours per week

    LOCATION: Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful Education Center: 1313 W. Mt. Vernon Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53233

    JOB SUMMARY: Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful (KGMB) is seeking a qualified individual to join its education team to help reach over 4,500 students in the Greater Milwaukee area. The environmental educator will develop and lead programs and multi session lessons to children in K-12, college students and adults. This position will also assist with daily operations at the KGMB education center as well as program development, grant research and event planning.

    THE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR POSITION IS EXPECTED TO:

    • Plan and facilitate engaging programs

    • Prepare for programming by becoming familiar with the audience as well as the lesson materials and resources

    • Posses content knowledge around program topics including recycling, composting, energy and water conservation, as well as urban trees and gardens

    • Present engaging, clear, and responsive programs

    • Create an age appropriate, fun and open learning environment

    • Maintain accurate records pertaining to programming

    • Communicate with school liaisons and teachers in regards to program scheduling and logistics

    • Develop environmental resource materials for schools

    • Collaborate with other KGMB staff and partners to provide and develop programming

    • Participate in and help plan various community education events as necessary (2-3 weekends per year)

    • Contribute to the KGMB website, social media and newsletter

    • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. The position may require working outdoors in all weather conditions

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Degree in education, environmental science, biology, or equivalent years of work experience preferred

    • At least one year working with youth ages K-12 in a formal or informal setting

    • Ability to teach science and nature-based programs

    • Must have reliable transportation

    KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Excellent oral communication skills

    • High level of enthusiasm and creativity

    • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and programs effectively

    THIS POSITION IS PART TIME AND HOURS ARE DEPENDENT ON CURRENT PROGRAMMING NEEDS, TYPICALLY 20 ‐ 25 HOURS A WEEK. THIS OPPORTUNITY HAS INCREASED HOURS DURING SUMMER MONTHS DUE TO KGMB SUMMER CAMPS. SOME EVENING AND WEEKEND HOURS OCCASIONALLY. PAY COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.
