    Job Description

    SUMMARY

    Under the supervision of the Environmental Manager, will assist in keeping Kennedy Valve proactive in environmental compliance and stewardship activities.

    JOB DUTIES

    • Interact heavily with storm water pollution prevention control systems, air emissions reduction controls, and solid/hazardous waste management.
    • Assist with day-to-day environmental systems data collection and manipulation, to maintain or exceed compliance expectations of local, state, and federal government organizations.
    • Emphasis will also be placed heavily on improving the company’s environmental management system (EMS) and tying in work instructions with the company policies.
    • Coordinate and participate in environmental auditing, regulatory reporting and participate in internal, third party (ISO 14001), and regulatory compliance (county, state, and federal audits).
    • Regular interaction with hourly/salaried team members, as well as division and corporate management will be required as part of this position.

    Document and maintain plans, requirements, protocols, permits to ensure internal Corporate Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures comply with external State and Federal regulations. requirements, protocols, permits

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science with some Engineering coursework.
    • Relevant Environmental Certifications, NYSDEC Soil and Erosion Control Training Certification, RCRA/DOT Training, OSHA HAZWOPER, Method 9 Opacity Certification, strongly desired or obtained within one year of employment.
    • Working knowledge and experience with Title V, NYS DEC Petroleum & Storm Water requirements, CERCLA, Air Permitting reporting, and EPCRA (Tier II/TRI).
    • One to five years of work experience in metal casting and metal fabrication, preferred.
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...), Adobe, CAD/Draftsite and familiarity with basic functions of database programs.
    • Experience using air, water, and soil sampling/monitoring equipment to collect data and sampling for evaluation.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc…
    • Work time is spent on the manufacturing floor, outdoors, and in a managerial office
    • Potential for work outside of normal business hours or weekend coverage depending on projects or emergencies
    • Occasional travel requirements (up to 25%) to other McWane facilities and suppliers, attending training, and professional development opportunities
    • Must maintain a clean driving record and license
    • Must be able to drive a powered industrial vehicles
    • Must be able to operate a pallet jack ****
    • Must be able to wear PPE as required
