Job Summary

We are seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team! Old Oak Kennel is a boarding and training kennel located between Ellendale and Blooming Prairie, MN. We are committed to having the nicest, cleanest kennel in Southern Minnesota. This job starts at 7 AM and is an all weather job - appropriate attire and reliable transportation are a must.

The job is a combination of kennel cleaning, animal care duties and light office work. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be providing daily care for the animals we are responsible for, ensuring all of their needs are met. That can include feeding them, cleaning their kennels and play spaces,. The ideal candidate loves animals, has basic knowledge of good animal handling procedures, and works well independently.

Responsibilities

Meet the basic and higher needs for all animals under our care, including feeding

Clean kennels and work areas daily

Wash bedding and toys

ability to work alone with minimal supervision

understand the need for cleanliness - both indoors and outside

Follow cleaning routines

talk to customers on the phone giving information, taking boarding reservations and check dogs or cats in and out.

administer medications as needed

Qualifications

Experience working with animals desired

Familiarity with animal handing procedures and best practices

Strong organizational skills

have some computer familiarity
