    We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Assistant to support our growing legal team. The ideal candidate must have Florida criminal defense law firm experience and the skillset to be an asset to a criminal defense team. Our Legal Assistant must be a self-starter, must need little supervision, fully capable of following procedures and systems, and must be responsive to attorneys' tasks and client questions. Responsibilities: Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed • File all legal documents with the Florida ePortal • Enter all notes and developments in our case management software • Relay questions from clients to attorneys and relay answers to those questions back to clients Qualifications: Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar 3+ years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting • Power initiative, anticipates needs and gets things done consistently on time • A high level of responsiveness both inside our law firm and with our clients • A results-driven professional, who gets excited about reaching and exceeding goals • Commitment to excellence • A can-do spirit, who is fun to be around, does not complain, make excuses or gossip • Our ideal candidate is a servant-hearted teammate, who must be able to run with assigned tasks in large projects and communicate effectively with our team, but also have no problem jumping in and getting his/her hands dirty in other areas in order to reach the goal Compensation: $35,000 - $40,000 yearly
