We are seeking an experienced Gummy Formulation Scientist to work out of the Long Island or Miami R&D facilities for an established contract manufacturer.  Must have prior gummy development and commercialization experience and be willing to relocate to either location if outside the area. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters of Science degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry or a pharmaceutical-related science.
• 5+ years experience directly related to confectionary formulation development, scale-up and manufacturing of dietary supplements or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experienced in the use of Design of Experiments concepts when developing new formulations.
• Preferred experience with confectionary and solid dosage forms including sustained and delayed release.
• Requires good knowledge of GMP related to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and effectively perform concurrent tasks with minimal supervision.
• Self motivated with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Optimizes existing formulas and their manufacturing process.
• Handles scale-up and technological transfer of new products to manufacturing.
• Deals with troubleshooting products while on the manufacturing floor.
• Conducts literature search for the projects including publications, patents, etc.
• Reviews and analyzes analytical results, specifications generated by other formulators, chemists and technicians.
• Generates protocols, reports and master batch records.
• Work with Customer Service Department to develop product quotes.
• Supervises and provides guidance and direction to assigned scientists and technicians.
