    What you will be responsible for doing:

    The ideal candidate for R&D Formulation Scientist I will possess a solid work track record of excellent attendance, the proven ability to meet deadlines and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain outstanding organizational skills. Possesses the ability to juggle multiple tasks, communicate effectively and have a razor-sharp eye for detail. Develops formulas/quotes for tablets, capsules, chewable tablets, premixes, ready to mix powders, and fast melt powders. The individual working in this position must possess a solid work track record and/or demonstration of scholastic attendance and achievement, and a committed interest in the tableting and encapsulation industry. Individual must be professional, committed, detail oriented, and possess good mathematical, written, clerical and organizational skills.

    Responsibilities:

    Once trained, this person must be able to work through common R&D and formulation problems independently and lead or assist with the development of formulas for the generation of quotes for new and existing business opportunities. Collaborating with the R&D Innovations team in the development of new formulas in powder, tablet, and capsule forms, as well as modify/correct existing formulas as deemed necessary; Work with the tech ops team in the checking and approval of documents such as Product Label Information (PLI), Nutritional Information, Start Up's for creating Master Formulas and Manufacturing Directions etc. Understanding and usage of current FDA nutritional/supplement fact information and standards while formulating. Ability to interpret a variety of customer-supplied information and translating that into a consistent formula format. Adhering to company guidelines, including cGMPs, SOPs and safety procedures. Interfacing with internal departments including purchasing, manufacturing, inventory control, quality assurance/ quality control, sales and customer service as required. Accountable for internal project collaborations with QA/QC or customer projects as required

    Requirements:

    A solid academic background or studies related to the nutritional food sciences. Quality: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. (Bilingual Spanish a plus). Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to calculate potencies to meet label claims. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. Familiarity with the metric system. Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times. Understanding of formulation cost and pricing analysis.

    Education:

    High School Diploma/Certificate; and 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A/A. degree and 1 year of experience in Product Development/ Manufacturing Technology in the Nutraceutical Industry or B.A./B.S. degree.
