Role Summary
The Kids Ministry Coordinator is a vital part of our church staff, responsible for the planning and execution of our weekly Kids Ministry programs and special events. This role focuses on volunteer coordination, administrative organization, and preparing materials to ensure a safe, fun, and Biblically sound environment for children.
Key Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Management and Scheduling (Primary Focus)
- Monthly Scheduling: Develop and manage the Sunday volunteer schedule, using “Planning center” for nursery through 5th grade classrooms
- Weekly Communication: Conduct weekly check-ins with scheduled Sunday workers or volunteers (via text, email, or system notification) to confirm their acceptance or declination of their assigned roles.
- Coverage Management: Proactively monitor the schedule to ensure adequate volunteer coverage for all Sunday morning classes and needs, filling any gaps that arise.
2. Curriculum and Material Preparation
- Lesson Adaptation: Review the provided foundational curriculum and adapt/draft volunteer-friendly lesson plan documents that are clear, concise, and easy for volunteers to teach.
- Weekly Preparation: Prepare and organize all necessary teaching materials, crafts, and supplies each week for nursery through 5th grade classrooms
- Printing & Distribution: Ensure all adapted lesson plans and any other necessary printouts are ready and distributed to volunteers prior to Sunday morning services.
3. Special Event Coordination
- Planning & Logistics: Coordinate and execute logistics for Kids Ministry special events (e.g., VBS, Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival, Children's Christmas Choir).
- Vendor and Supply Management: Schedule necessary vendors (e.g., bounce houses, vendors) and manage the ordering of food and supplies for events.
4. Administrative Support
- Birthday Recognition: Manage and send monthly birthday cards or notes to all children enrolled in the Kids Ministry program.
- Occasional Class Leadership: Serve as a substitute or additional teacher to lead Sunday school classes on occasion when an unexpected need or coverage gap arises on a Sunday morning. This is not a weekly expectation but a required flexibility of the role.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Prior ministry experience (strongly recommended)
- Actively pursuing a relationship with the Lord
- A passion for working with children and supporting faith development
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., Sheets, Canva, Google Docs) and comfort using or learning Planning Center.
Time Commitment
- Full Time- 5ok-55k a year
- Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-4:00pm; Sunday 8am-1pm
