We offer a full-service salon experience that's both welcoming and sophisticated. We're seeking a talented, creative, and experienced Assistant Manager to join our elite team.

    Job Description

    The Salon Assistant Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of both locations of Sit Still Kids Salon – Greenpoint, Brooklyn & LIC, Queens. This includes internal and client-facing responsibilities, in service of ensuring smooth service delivery, high standards of client satisfaction, profitability, consistency in Sit Still Kids Salon’ franchise standards, and service excellence. This role is also responsible for staying up-to-date on the latest industry trends in beauty.

    Assistant Manager Responsibilities:

    The key responsibilities of this position are:

    1. Provide excellent customer service

    Create a positive, friendly, and fun atmosphere for children and parents.

    Stay up to date on current beauty trends and new techniques to provide cutting-edge services.

    Greet customers at our Front Desk and assist them with getting settled into their appointment

    Upsell services, private events & hair care products

    Conduct our check out procedures including pre-booking the next appointment

    Answer the phone & address client questions and appointment bookings

    Build lasting relationships with clients through excellent customer service and communication

    1. Drive client retention and sales

    Conduct regular call backs to our sales leads

    Conduct Daily Concierge phone calls to customers we have not seen recently, to drive retention

    Offer product recommendations to clients based on individual needs and hair types

    1. Team Management & Schedule Optimization

    Act as the Manager on Duty during shifts, directing the team of 3+ stylists

    Optimize appointment schedules, particularly on the weekends, ensuring stylists are balanced in their appointment loads

    Lead the team toward reaching our weekly service and product sales goals and maintain the salon’s high standards of service and performance

    Address any issues that arise on site, with either stylists or customers

    Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and professional environment

    1. Run our Retail program

    If you like shopping & merchandising, this role is for you!

    Conduct all retail & product orders

    Maintain weekly reporting on retail & product sell-thru rates

    Understand the brands we sell and educate our stylist team on our products

    Label all our retail & products with correct SKUs & pricing

    Maintain SKUs & pricing within our point-of-sale system

    Develop the merchandising displays for our products, including seasonal features like Halloween, Holiday, Mother’s Day, Back-to-School & more

    1. Run our Events programs

    Run our monthly “Teach Me How to Braid Class” end-to-end, from planning the dates and promotional materials to driving client sign-ups and hosting the class in conjunction with our stylists

    Run other events and help brainstorm event concepts

    Attend community and school pop-up events on behalf of the salon

    Host our birthday parties and private events

    In addition to the responsibilities above, this position is expected to participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills, which at times is provided off-site requiring travel (paid for by the company) for 2 – 3 days (1 – 2 times per year).

    Schedule

    Schedule for this position is 24 - 32 hours per week total, broken down as:

    2 consecutive weekdays (Either Mon/Tues or Thurs/Fri)

    On weekdays, 3 - 7 pm at a minimum (for the right candidate, this can be 11 am - 7 pm)

    Weekends, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

    Salary & Benefits

    Competitive compensation: $24 - 28 (based on experience) per hour plus a monthly bonus tied to salon performance goals.

    Qualifications:

    Excellent customer service & communication skills and a talent for building rapport with clients

    Prior salon experience and/or upscale retail experience (think DryBar, Lash Lab, European Wax Center, Disney, Nordstrom, etc.)

    Strong knowledge of beauty trends, haircare products, and tools

    Strong product sales background and a willingness to learn our product lines (Amika, Eleven, Evereden)

    Strong attention to detail and a passion for creativity

    Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

    Willingness to learn and grow through ongoing training

    Experience with children is a plus

    Prior experience with retail merchandising is a plus

    Being a hairstylist is not required, but we do welcome hairstylists with salon management experience to apply
