    THE DIRECTOR, PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE (PMO) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THE STRATEGIC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE CREDIT UNION ARE MET THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF PROJECTS, AND THE APPROPRIATE ALLOCATION OF PEOPLE AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES ON APPROVED INITIATIVES. THE PERSON IN THIS ROLE IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFINITION AND ONGOING UTILIZATION OF THE COMPANY’S PROJECT MANAGEMENT METHODOLOGY TO ENSURE REPEATABLE AND CONSISTENT RESULTS.   THEY WORK DIRECTLY WITH ALL DEPARTMENTS AT THE CREDIT UNION TO DEFINE, PRIORITIZE, AND MANAGE KEY PROJECTS, AND REPORTS TO SENIOR MANAGEMENT (AND OTHERS) ON KEY METRICS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENTIRE PORTFOLIO OF CORPORATE INITIATIVES.  LASTLY, THIS LEADER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HIRING, COACHING, AND OVERALL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT OF THE PARTNER-EMPLOYEES ASSIGNED TO THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE. 

     

    1. Portfolio Management and Reporting - Oversee the enterprise portfolio of projects and ensure it encompasses all lines of business. Identify resource needs and/or constraints, cross-project dependencies, key risks, & issues. Prepare monthly portfolio status reporting of all key projects for Senior Leadership. Establish the agenda for, and facilitate the portfolio review, at the monthly Priority Committee meeting. Facilitate quarterly meetings with “C-Level” executives to review and/or adjust the organization’s project priorities and resource allocations. Ensure suitable Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools are implemented and maintained for accurate project and time reporting. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with the leaders and staff of each Line of Business to review progress on their portfolio initiatives. (30%)
    2. Leadership and People Management - Act as a trusted advisor to the various Business Leaders and Credit Union Executives who sponsor initiatives. Work with the various IT and Business teams to improve their project delivery practices. Positively influence others across functional areas and achieve buy-in to drive cultural and organizational change initiatives. Participate in the annual strategic planning efforts in support of the PMO and IT Governance frameworks. Provide project team members the training and tools to effectively manage assigned projects and tasks. Foster a positive and motivating work environment, encourage teamwork, and provide for individual growth and success. Foster teamwork to help Partners meet and/or exceed assigned goals and competencies. Supervise, coach, and regularly review the performance of Partners working in the Project Management Office, including developing Partners for promotional opportunities as appropriate. (30%)
    3. Project Management - Manage all aspects of project delivery from initiation through post-implementation. Ensure projects meet (or exceed) their agreed upon scope, schedule, and budget goals and objectives. Serve as an escalation point for all project team members including Business Leaders, Subject Matter Experts, Business Analysts, IT staff, and third party Vendors. Resolve project conflicts and escalate barriers to Senior Management, where appropriate. Cultivate, educate, and help develop project management skills throughout the company. Develop and/or assist business leaders in the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for assigned projects. Participate as a member of a Steering Committee on designated enterprise projects. Assist in and/or lead vendor evaluation and selection, strategic research, needs assessment, SWOT analysis, competitive analysis, and compliance reviews in support of projects. (20%)  
    4. Processes and Standards – Develop and maintain the company’s Project Management methodology, ensure its consistent use, and make certain it adheres to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) principles. Define the project-scoring matrix, weighting factors, and processes used to prioritize initiatives in the enterprise portfolio. Design the baseline templates for key project artifacts (e.g. project plans, status reporting, project charters, etc.) and determine the central repository for all project-related documentation. (20%)

    Required Skills

    1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Information Systems, or similar area; Equivalent work-related experience will be considered as a substitute.
    2. A current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desired.
    3. 10+ years of demonstrated Project Management experience with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in a financial services institution, with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing enterprise projects.
    4. 5+ years of demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    5. 5+ years of proven ability leading diverse teams, including all facets of performance management (hiring, interviewing, coaching, disciplinary actions, etc.).
    6. Practical experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent tools is desired.
    7. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Business and IT management, both verbally and in writing.
    8. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    9. Strong decision-making and negotiation skills.
    10. Proven critical thinking and problem resolution skills.
