    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nursing Quality Specialist.

    In this role, the successful candidate Supports Departments of Nursings quality and safety programs. Provides quality improvement facilitation and support for nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams undertaking improvement initiatives. Assists Director of Nursing Quality with assessment of the learning needs of nursing staff as they pertain to quality and performance improvement; assists with the provision of education and mentoring in the methods and tools of rapid cycle and continuous quality improvement. Participates in monitoring of regulatory compliance, identifies opportunities for improvement, and assists patient care units with development and implementation of improvement strategies. Participates in occurrence reviews, complaint investigations, RCAs, FMEAs and assists in facilitation of the corrective action plans with nursing leadership and staff. Assists with benchmarking activities with the National Database for Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), University Healthsystem Consortium (UHC) and other organizations as appropriate.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Articulates understanding of nursing process, interdisciplinary collaboration, quality and performance
    management, patient safety, continuum of care concepts, customer service and healthy work environments.
    • Identifies factors and participates in programs to promote satisfaction of staff, patient, families and other
    disciplines.
    • Utilizes and communicates evidence based practice in the development of the quality & performance program of
    the Department.
    • Participates in the annual evaluation of the Nursing quality and performance improvement plan.
    • Stays abreast of trends and issues pertaining to nursing work environments and the Departments of Nursing
    strategic plan.
    • Uses sound methodology in analyzing data, evaluating outcomes and driving excellence.
    • Participates in leadership development programs in areas pertinent to expertise and interest.
    • Maintains clinical and functional expertise.
    • Supports evidence based practice by assisting nursing staff in development of process standards that are
    consistent with evidence based literature, regulatory requirements, and pertinent professional nursing standards.
    • Supports Director of Nursing Quality in the provision of education to various levels of nursing staff in the use of
    performance improvement methodologies as applicable to nursing quality.
    • Establishes collaborative relationships with nursing staff, leadership, medical staff, and other administrative staff.
    Participates as a member of various Nursing Councils and other hospital committees as appropriate. Functions as
    a respectful member of the healthcare team.
    • Provides support for quality improvement teams including arranging meetings, providing minutes, managing
    project timelines, and preparing reports. Assists the Director of Nursing Quality and other nursing leadership in
    development of presentations, reports and publication of quality and safety program outcomes.
    • Supports the Director of Nursing Quality with coordination of the Departments of Nursings Quality & Performance
    Improvement Council. Coordinates activities to promote compliance with all regulatory requirements. Supports unit
    based leadership by developing tools to monitor outcomes at the unit level.
    • Assists unit based leadership in developing quality initiatives that reflect their specialty and that achieve evidence
    based practice.
    • Participates in RCAs, FMEAs and assists in implementation and monitoring of corrective action plan.
    • Assists in review and evaluation of occurrences related to nursing care reported through the electronic occurrence
    system and patient complaints related to nursing care.
    • Assists with review and development of interdisciplinary and interdepartmental structure standards, process and
    outcome standards in conjunction with other nursing leadership.
    • Demonstrates understanding and implications of nurse-sensitive quality and other clinical indicators.

    • Demonstrates understanding of the value of professional nursing, the conceptual framework in which it is
    practiced, and the features of an organization that attracts and retains nurses.
    • Demonstrates understanding of nursing and patient care standards as integral to and supportive of professional
    practice.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Licensure: Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York; Education: Bachelor's in Nursing: Master's in nursing or related field required or in progress. Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience in acute care nursing with demonstrated leadership skills.Competencies: Excellent writing, editing, and graphic skills; excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; possesses performance improvement methodology; self-directed, understanding of change management, professional practice, project management, and current issues and trends in nursing and health care; Computer expertise in Microsoft Office applications and expertise in analyzing, interpreting and presenting data using graphs, tables, etc. Certification in speciality area required.Membership in relevant professional organizations..

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $85,940.89 - $143,234.83 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
