    Position Summary:

    Rusk Rehabilitation at NYU Langone Health in Manhattan has an opportunity to join the 22-bed adult inpatient cardiopulmonary and medically complex rehabilitation unit as a Rehabilitation Psychologist. Primary responsibilities are the provision of rehabilitation psychology assessment and interventions for patients and their families primarily on the inpatient rehabilitation unit in collaboration with another full-time psychologist and intern from our APA-accredited training program. The unit serves a variety of medically complex patients, including individuals with cardiopulmonary conditions, organ transplant, limb loss, cancer, and other complex presentations. An additional opportunity for one day per week of outpatient clinical service is also expected.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Provides neuropsychological assessment as directed by Supervisor of the service. Provides psychological assessment as directed by Supervisor of the service. Provides neuropsychological and cognitive interventions, individually or in group, as directed by Supervisor of the service. Provides psychological and behavioral interventions, individually or ingroup, as directed by Supervisor of the service. Provides psychological interventions to families, individually or in group, as directed by Supervisor of the service. Ensures that all inpatient/outpatient clinical services delivered adhere to regulations and standards set by federal, state and city agencies.
    * Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to treat assigned patient population.
    * Prepares, reviews and finalizes proposals, manuscripts and reports based on research activities in a timely fashion.
    * Maintains ongoing communication with the Coordinator of Research re: research activities, recruitment issues and pending deadlines for research project completion.
    * In collaboration with the Coordinator of Psychological Research, plans, develops and implements research activities to advance clinical research of the Department.
    * Provides statistical data as required for clinical service delivered on the service.
    * Functions as resource for other interdisciplinary team members on the service. Confers with physicians and other intra-disciplinary staff regarding patient care. Is available to assist staff and other team members inpatient management.
    * Ensures accuracy in outpatient documentation and billing for psychological services rendered on the service.Monitors consistency between psychological/neuropsychological services rendered and treatment prescribed.Ensures that documentation and billing is done in a timely fashion. Ensures compliance with outpatient quality control is maintained. Assists the Supervisor in focused documentation compliance reviews.
    * Assists with the development and implementation of educational programs to advance clinical. Attends Departmental educational in-services,workshops and professional conferences to maintain and upgrade current knowledge in field. Shares new knowledge with the staff
    * In collaboration with the Supervisor, plans and implements patient related programming initiative within the service. Evaluates ongoing efficacy of outpatient program initiatives. Assists the Supervisor in clinical interventions to reduce errors or delay in outpatient service delivery, ensures safe patient discharge and well being of patients.
    * Provides supervisory oversight of neuropsychological assessments as directed by the Supervisor. Provides supervisory oversight psychological assessments as directed by the Supervisor. Provides supervisory oversight of neuropsychological treatment/cognitive remediation, individually or in group, as directed by the Supervisor. Provides supervisory oversight psychological behavioral interventions,individually or group, as directed by the Supervisor. Provides supervisory oversight of psychological interventions for families, individually or in group, as directed by the Supervisor. Ensures that all inpatient/outpatient clinical services delivered by supervisees adhere to regulations and standards set by federal, state and city agencies.
    * Assists with orientation of new inpatient/outpatient staff and trainees. Provides on the job training in areas of direct inpatient/outpatient care, rehabilitation psychology methods and techniques and departmental policies and procedures. Instructs new inpatient/outpatient staff in the organization, procedures and protocols of the service.
    

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Doctoral Degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy. D).
    • Current license as a Psychologist in New York State.
    • Four years post internship.
    • Prior clinically relevant experience in rehabilitation psychology.
    • Prior experience in working in an inpatient setting. Must meet NYU criteria for psychology core privileges.
    • Documentation of additional specialty education/training is required for non-core clinical privileges (e.g., biofeedback, neuropsychological testing).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior supervisory and/or administrative experience.
    • Clinical experience in both rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology.
    • Membership in relevant professional organizations (APA, ACRM, etc).

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,065.99 - $146,904.70 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
