    Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs.     Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant - Women's Health (Spanish speaking and a graduate of an Accredited MA Program).

    In this role, the successful candidate The Medical Assistant performs supportive services to the health care provider and nursing staff in the care of patients in the ambulatory care setting in accordance with the policies and procedures

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Documents data collected and care rendered.
    * Demonstrates an awareness of and respect for coworkers'/patients' cultural backgrounds.
    * Responds appropriately to patient emergencies such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure.
    * Performs venous phlebotomy.
    * Hooks up and removes Holter monitors.
    * Performs EKG audiovisual testing.
    * Coordinates module/site supply request as assigned.
    * Provides translation services as needed.
    * Performs simple dressings
    * Plot growth charts for pediatric patients.
    * Obtains vital signs height weights head and chest circumference as needed on all patients.
    * Checks for completeness of encounter forms and prescriptions.
    * Completes patient forms i.e. WIC.
    * Retrieves laboratory and ancillary test results from the computer or contact the reference laboratory.
    * Observes and alerts the nursing staff of patients who appear in need of urgent care.
    * Transports and accompanies patients as needed.
    * Completes all laboratory ancillary testing and specialty referral forms related to the service.
    * Attends staff meetings and review/signs minutes of meetings not attended. Maintains competence through in-service and educational programs.
    * Assist with clerical duties specific to area of assignment.
    * Reinforces health teaching to patients/families.
    * Keeps all service areas orderly e.g. treatment exam and utility rooms.
    * Demonstrates a sensitive and supportive attitude towards patients families and/or significant others.
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalency required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

    Required Licenses: Medical Assistant Certificate

    Preferred Qualifications:
    1-2 years of ambulatory care experience preferred.

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $43,492.68 - $48,689.97 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management/Development, or a related field, or the equivalent
    • A minimum of seven years HR generalist employee relations experience
    • At least three years management experience in a multi-site service industry generally required
    • PHR/SPHR certification is desirable
    • Broad knowledge of human resource practices and employment laws/regulations
    • Strong facilitation and presentation skills and knowledge of adult learning techniques
    • Strong problem solving, decision-making, independent judgment and negotiation skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, project/employee management skills and the interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams
    • Ability to travel on a regular basis
