Assistant Retail Services Manager -Palos Verdes
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages and directs Mexico tax department. Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of Mexico tax filings. Responsible for Mexico tax planning strategies and execution. Manages relationship with financial and SAT governmental auditors. Works with management in Mexico and US to assure tax plans and business plans are coordinated. Communicates company and industry perspectives to government committees, legislators, and administration to influence government legislation and policy. Assists with Mexico and US tax accounting requirements for Mexico operations
EDUCATION:
College degree in business, finance or accounting.
Master’s degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Combination of Mexico public accounting and Mexico private industry tax compliance and tax accounting experience- 10 years minimum.
Effective management of Mexico tax compliance for Mexico subsidiaries of US based parent organization.
Effective management of tax audits of Mexico operations by Mexico governmental authorities
Effective management of tax department direct and indirect reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assure Mexico tax filings are incompliance with Mexico tax laws.
Assure effective management of tax compliance audits by Mexico tax authorities.
Effective management of Mexico tax department staff.
Identification and implementation of opportunities to appropriately minimize the organization’s Mexico tax liability.
Assists with accurate and timely accounting under US GAAP and Mexico IFRS for taxes related to Mexico operations.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Develops staff to assure departmental capacity for exceptional performance
Constantly improve processes and documentation to assure, accurate, efficient and reliable tax compliance operations
Keeps management informed of latest changes in tax laws or policies
SKILLS:
Strong Mexico tax technical knowledge to assure compliance with Mexico (direct and indirect) tax requirements.
Strong English and Spanish language skills-written and oral.
Ability to effectively assess potential tax risk and to operate within an uncertain/evolving Mexico tax environment.
Effective people skills and ability to effectively lead Mexico tax department including professional development of tax department staff.
Ability to identify, manage and execute Mexico domestic and multi-national (direct and indirect) tax planning opportunities.
