    Job Description

    Kinetica is in search of a Controller to build scalable financial processes that will enable us to continue expanding our business. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will lead a team of accountants and be a part of the overall Finance Management team (which includes the CFO, Director of FP&A and Director of HR).

    The Controller will drive the transformation of the accounting organization from a reporter of accurate and timely historical data to a trusted partner of the leadership team -providing business insights on a cross-functional and strategic basis. Given the global nature of our business, the Controller will manage international accounting and banking operations; oversee multiple payroll processes; develop tax-efficient international structures; and ensuring compliance with all necessary domestic and international laws.

    This will be an exciting and challenging role. Keeping up with the dynamic nature of our business will require both accounting and business expertise, as well as the ability to work across geographies and departments.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead and develop a team of accountants (2 - today with an opportunity to expand in time)
    • Serve as the company’s expert on accounting matters, partnering with other departments (Legal, Sales, IT, and HR) on structuring policies, and advising with respect to accounting and tax implications
    • Lead the monthly close process, including bank & GL account reconciliation
    • Manage the preparation and review of the company’s financial statements, including those for international operations
    • Manage day-to-day operational functions including bank accounts, account payable, cash collections and payroll
    • Fulfill all US GAAP and IFRS reporting standards
    • Oversee various other internal and external reporting requirements such as statutory filings in foreign jurisdictions
    • Develop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets
    • Develop processes and business partner relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners that will improve the flow of financial information within and about the Company
    • Participate and contribute to the Finance Management team, including attending key meetings.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 12+ years of related experience, with increasing levels of responsibility and seniority with the majority of this experience in enterprise software
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting
    • CPA preferred but not required
    • Experience with SaaS revenue recognition
    • Detailed understanding of financial statements (Balance Sheet Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and how they relate to one another and their preparation.
    • Deep understanding of all Accounting functions including AP, AR, billing, collections, payroll, T&E, stock option administration, sales/use taxes, income tax returns/provisions, etc.
    • Experience working with multiple global entities (financial consolidation, bank account management, payroll, tax filings)
    • Experience managing relationships with external auditors
    • Experience building and leading a world-class accounting function in a highly entrepreneurial, rapidly growing environment
    • Experience with both large and small/mid-size company experience with a track record of driving positive results in hands-on environments
    • Interested in mentoring and developing talent
    • Detail oriented and fact-based communicator
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to explain complex financial issues or concepts to non-financial audience.
