    Job Description

    KAI is looking for a Unix/Linux System Administrator to join the IT department in our San Jose, CA office. The ideal candidate will meet with internal customers on a regular basis to understand their needs, prioritize the tasks, ensure that the projects are completed, and serve as the point of escalation for complex systems issues. RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Driving standards for system administration processes/tools and writing scripts to automate the processes.
    • Justification, procurement, installation, asset management, and support for hardware and software.
    • Participation in weekly team meetings and creating project plans.
    • Ability to provide automations for monitoring, rapid deployments, and assist with quick turnarounds.
    • Documentation and user training.
    • Perform server builds necessary to support project requirements while meeting approved project budgets and timelines.
    • Create and maintain disaster recovery planning for Unix/Linux platform company-wide.
    • Partner with the support team to ensure new capabilities are smoothly integrated into established operational processes, including monitoring, backups, and failover/disaster recovery.
    • Responsible for detailing tasks and level of effort for project managers to include in overall project scope.
    • Lead troubleshooting/project completion efforts.
    • Subject matter expert in one or more of the following technologies a plus: Domain Name Service, LDAP, VMWare, Linux/Unix security, and server management.
    • Serve as technical liaison for 3rd party, managed service support team.
    • Proactively manage technologies within assigned areas, including providing recommendations for improving service and escalating areas that may impact service availability.
    • Research and bring to the manager operational best practices for monitoring and maintaining server health.
    • Enforce compliance regarding document retention, information security, and best practice system administrations.
    • Assist with audits and perform other duties as necessary.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Self-driven engineer with at least 8+ years of Unix/Linux system administration and expert-level skills managing enterprise-level Unix/Linux administration and security tools.
    • Excellent technical knowledge of Unix/Linux architecture and administration (admin, master replication/imaging, patch management, DNS, DHCP, NFS, NIS, etc.), shell programming, LDAP, virtualization, enterprise storage, software management/licensing).
    • Strong experience in supporting semiconductor technical/R&D teams (development, test/QA) with EDA/CAD, simulation-related tools (Perl, shell, Python, SunGrid, NC, Cadence, Synopsis, CF Engine, source code repository, Atlassian tools, and other EDA/CAD related tools).
    • Experience in managing enterprise storage (NetApp & PureStorage).
    • Experience in performing disaster recovery failover via replication (Rubrik).
    • Available 7x24, as needed.
