    Job Description

Company Description No Relocation Assistance Provided

KIOXIA America, Inc. (formerly Toshiba Memory America, Inc.) is the US-based subsidiary of KIOXIA Corporation, a leading worldwide supplier of flash memory and solid state drives (SSDs). From the invention of flash memory to today’s breakthrough BiCS FLASH™ 3D technology, KIOXIA continues to pioneer cutting-edge memory solutions and services that enrich people's lives and expand society's horizons. The company's innovative 3D flash memory technology, BiCS FLASH™, is shaping the future of storage in high-density applications, including advanced smartphones, PCs, SSDs, automotive and data centers.

Job Description Work closely with Product Line Management and Engineering to lead the technical marketing of KIOXIA’s KumoScale software-defined storage product. The TE will evangelize the technology and benefits of KumoScale to drive customer awareness and adoption of the platform, and will provide world-class technical marketing support to internal cross-functional teams. KIOXIA is looking for a Senior Technical Evangelist to help tell the KumoScale story to our core audience of data center SREs and developers. As a spokesperson, you will deliver highly visible content, both internally and externally, to be consumed by both current and potential users. As a member of the PM team you’ll play a central role in translating technical product capabilities into business benefits. In this role you'll have a career defining opportunity to directly impact the growth of NVMe-oF storage in public and private clouds. Role may be based out of San Jose, CA or Remote RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Content Creation: Develop technical content (white papers, presentations, blog posts, etc.) to educate customers about our solutions, as well as excite, motivate, and inspire them to transition to true cloud storage infrastructure based on NVMe-over-Fabrics and KumoScale. Doing this well will require an ongoing effort to build and maintain a deep understanding of the product.
    • Be a Trusted Advisor: Help build a reputation both within the company and among KIOXIA customers as a recognized authority on best-practices for cloud storage technology. Drive technical responses to customer inquiries and requests, including customer RFIs and RFQs, specification gap analyses, and technical deep dives
    • Online Channels: Monitor & respond to KumoScale forums and other online channels to answer questions and collect customer usability feedback
    • Roadmap Alignment: Assist the PM team in conducting roadmap discussions with customers to ensure alignment between their evolving needs and KumoScale’s development priorities. Help shape next-generation product requirements based on customer inputs, competitive analysis, and market research
    • Messaging: Work cross functionally with product managers, development, and other marketing team members to distill key functionality and benefits into core product marketing messages, and create technical narratives that differentiate KumoScale in the eyes of deeply technical users.
    • Market Analysis: Keep a vigilant eye on the data center market for problems, trends, and opportunities.
    • Competitive Analysis: Build and maintain an in-depth analysis of competitive products and technologies, and understand whether and how they align with our and competitors’ respective market focus.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Communications: This job is about communicating sophisticated technical concepts to audiences with a wide range of backgrounds, using a variety of media. Success isn’t so much about spelling and grammar as it is about technical empathy; the knack for providing information at just the “data rate” and level of detail your audience wants. It means seeing yourself through their eyes, and adjusting your approach until you really connect. It means noticing the small clues that expose the customer’s point of view, so that you, and we, can frame our message accordingly. It means sensitivity to cultural Software Engineering: To explain a complex software product, you must first understand it. This job doesn’t require writing code, but it does require communicating efficiently with those who do. We think that’s best accomplished if you have at least some prior experience or training in software development. Technical Breadth: Many of the core technologies on which KumoScale is based didn’t exist just a few years ago. So, continuous learning is an absolute requirement to be successful in this role. We want to see evidence that you are a “learner” – that you’ve already absorbed a solid working understanding of a broad swath of technical topics relevant to cloud storage and can apply these principles in new situations. You should be conversant with the key ideas in several areas such as these:

    • 8+ years of experience in Product Marketing
    • Computer architecture, e.g. caching & coherence, queueing, NUMA, bandwidth vs. latency tradeoffs, virtual memory
    • Databases, e.g. relational vs. K-V, ACID, consistency
    • Networking, e.g. switching/routing, congestion control, internetworking, load balancing
    • Storage systems, e.g. block vs. file vs. object, data sharing, durability & availability
    • Flash memory and solid state disks
    • Application execution environments, e.g. bare-metal vs. virtualized vs. containerized vs. serverless, kubernetes
    • DevOps concepts, frameworks, tools, and techniques

    EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
