    How your role fits into Boldt:

    The Business Development Director will lead and be responsible for the development and growth of profitable new business for the Western Operations Group in the existing geography of San Francisco. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Identifying, developing and maintaining strategic relationships and serving as a representative of Boldt when collaborating with the general public, owners, joint venture partners, employees, trade partners, and suppliers.
    • Establishing and executing the Group’s relationship development and sales plan in conjunction with office and group leadership.
    • Ensuring the relationship development and sales plan is executed according to the company’s standards and that it is supported by the vital business functions and processes to ensure a successful outcome.

    You will work in collaboration with our national business development and marketing group, project teams and our Western Operations’ leaders.

    Required Skills

    What you get to do:

    External Business Development (80%):

    • Identify, develop and maintain strategic customer, A/E (architect/ engineer), and industry specialist relationships. Through these relationships collect intelligence that will advise strategic planning and specific project or customer pursuits.
    • Promote the Boldt image and brand within the community, industry organizations and markets.
    • Attend community events, conferences, tradeshows and AEC events with the goal of cultivating relationships for future business opportunities.
    • Play an active role in the local business community, including active participation in appropriate local organizations and various service and business organizations.
    • Serve on local civic, professional and industry leadership boards.
    • Provide leadership in problem resolution and seek continuous feedback from existing and potential clients through a variety of methods.

    Develop, Execute & Manage Business Development Strategy (20%):

    • Develop and nurture deep customer relationships for shaping project pursuits
    • Lead and manage entire sales process
    • Lead and shape the theme and direction for proposals and presentations based on the customer relationship and acquired client intellect. Help identify key differentiators and competitor intellect to assist with the pursuit.
    • Actively participate in proposal and interview content development and messaging.
    • Work in conjunction with local marketing professionals on pursuits.
    • Work with Corporate Business Development and Marketing as well as local and regional leadership to ensure that annual relationship development and sales targets are met.
    • Organize and lead client and/or market specific meetings and action plans.
    • Maintain market and competitor intelligence in our primary and secondary markets.
    • Coordinate with local and corporate marketing regarding branding strategies and public relations support (i.e. trade publications, project milestones, speaking engagements, award submissions, etc.)
    • Review, develop, and establish “standard work”, metrics/benchmarks and guidelines to measure progress and drive the group towards continued success.
    • Utilize and maintain accurate client relationship records so that opportunities and relationships are documented for internal management and communication.
    • Use fiscally sound judgment to manage budget; analyzing and controlling expenditures to conform to budget requirements; including, recommending or approving the budget, expenditures, implementing ways to improve operational efficiencies, providing accurate reports, continuously reviewing return on investment and budget performance, etc.

    This position may also include other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    7-10 years in business development, sales, or related area of expertise

    4-year degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Management or related field; MBA or related Masters level degree is preferred

    AEC Industry experience is preferred

    Physical requirements and working conditions:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to optimally communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.

    The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
