    Position Summary

    Collaborative project team member providing technical, financial and managerial support for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls and fire protection systems from initial project development through construction, commission and activation.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities     

     Technical

    • Provide in-house technical resource for project issues regarding plumbing, mechanical, building automation controls and electrical systems.
    • Proactively identify problems and collaboratively work with design team and clients to resolve problems.
    • Provide support to project teams looking to achieve sustainability and energy savings goals.
    • Engage with project team to proactively leverage technology such as Revit and BIM to identify and resolve problems.

     

    Financial

    • Provide project conceptual budgets based on program definition and OPR.
    • Meet construction budgets by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions and setting efficiency targets for operations teams.
    • Collaborate with project team to proactively identify financial risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to avoid, mitigate, transfer or accept the risk during the entire life cycle of the project.

     

    Management

    • Provide leadership and direction to other MEP managers within Central Operations to ensure a high level of standard service to our project teams and clients.
    • Provide leadership and direction to MEP trade partners at the project level to ensure a high level of standard service to our project teams and clients.
    • Participate in company, and project department meetings focusing on continuous improvement.
    • Controls any number of projects at various stages of work. Reviews records of accounts and inputs entries into to proper accounts.
    • Administer construction contracts and conduct periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.

     

    Ambassador

    • Assist in marketing proposals and presentations to potential clients.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

    • Communication skills are key to increasing management's effectiveness with superiors, peers, and subordinates

    • Delegation skills are crucial in identifying the best person (or people) for a task and act as a facilitator to motivate and direct the work

    • Decision-making skills are key to weighing the costs and benefits of various options and determining the best course of action to achieve company goals
    • Problem-solving skills are crucial to analyzing past and current performance and recommending objectives to improve productivity and profitability

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in mechanical engineering or two-year technical engineering plus five years’ experience in technical field and related experience.
    • Seven plus years proven success managing projects as Project Manager and in-depth knowledge of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Controls and Fire Protection trades.
    • Additional and relevant Mechanical repair and services experience preferred.
    • A high degree of interpersonal skill is required for communication and collaboration with all levels of customers and employees as well as those associates outside the company.
    • Significant experience in conceptual budgeting for MEP systems and collaboration with design partners to propose practical solutions to bring the highest value to our customers.
    • Preferred working knowledge of Revit and related computer systems as necessary.
    • Must have a valid driver's license as well as an insurable driving record.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Understanding commercial construction logistics, labor, material and equipment handling.
    • Understanding of basic business practices, ability to read and understand construction-related accounting reports.
    • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications and translate the information to the operational realities.

     

    Travel

    Travel is required to regional offices and project site locations typically in the Milwaukee and Madison area.

Employee frequently uses computer keyboard, regularly travels (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation), and occasionally performs work on-site at construction work sites. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor frequently.
