    JOB TITLE: Construction Safety Specialist

    We are growing and are in need of a Construction Safety Specialist.

    Summary

    This individual implements, manages, and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements for the organization. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify project conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions for the safety of staff and team partners.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Kissick Construction takes safety seriously, and we require all of our employees to use the standard industry practices to keep everyone safe on the job. The following duties are expected:

    • Evaluate the safety protocols followed on various job sites
    • Organize safety training for employees
    • Participate in the development and implementation of work order tracking and reporting.
    • Respond to emergency situations; provide reports of findings and submit recommendations.
    • Analyze accident and incident reports for trends and make recommendations for improvement to correct unsafe conditions.
    • Visit job sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materials.
    • Evaluate, assess and alter safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees and clients.
    • Conduct safety training sessions for employees and vendors.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
    • Assist with injury and incident inquiries and evaluations.
    • Report findings to Supervisor and Management.
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry (particularly heavy civil construction) and understand the specific safety issues inherent to construction sites. The job includes significant fieldwork.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety)
    • 3-5 years experience in the construction industry
    • Valid drivers license

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

    • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT standards with regard to construction
    • Ability to train, influence, and motivate team members
    • Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
    • Strong business writing skills
    • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols
    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
    • Experience with measuring tools, basic math, and statistical analysis
    • Ability to work with diverse team members
