Job Summary:
The Kitchen Associate is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating food items while ensuring cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety and health standards. This role is vital in providing guests with a positive dining experience by ensuring the quality and timely delivery of food.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking:
Prepare and cook food items according to the menu and company standards.
Ensure that food is cooked to the proper temperature and presented attractively.
Assist with food prep duties, including chopping, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
Kitchen Organization & Cleanliness:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including cooking equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas.
Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of food.
Regularly sanitize kitchen equipment and work areas.
Inventory & Stock Management:
Assist with food inventory management, ensuring stock levels are maintained and ingredients are fresh.
Report any shortages or needed supplies to the Kitchen Manager.
Maintenance & Equipment Care:
Clean kitchen equipment and work areas at the end of each shift.
Report any kitchen maintenance issues to the Kitchen Manager.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Follow health and safety regulations, including proper lifting, handling, and storing of food products.
Ensure that food preparation areas meet sanitation and safety standards.
Team Collaboration:
Work with the kitchen team to meet service demands and ensure timely food preparation.
Support other kitchen staff during peak periods to ensure smooth operations.
Assist with training new kitchen associates on procedures and standards.
Guest Service:
Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with guests, particularly in open kitchen settings.
Ensure food quality meets the company’s standards before being served.
Skills & Qualifications:
Previous kitchen or cooking experience preferred.
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Must have a valid Food Handler's Permit or be able to obtain one.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Ability to work late hours, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for extended periods and move quickly between kitchen areas.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. (e.g., bags of ingredients, equipment, etc.).
Ability to bend, kneel, and reach overhead to access kitchen equipment and supplies.
Manual dexterity to handle kitchen utensils, tools, and equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Working Conditions:
Work in a high-energy, fast-paced kitchen environment.
Exposure to hot surfaces, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals.
Ability to work in hot, noisy, and sometimes crowded conditions.
Flexible hours, with a focus on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
May require working in shifts, including nights and weekends, depending on business needs.
