    Job Overview:

    The Kitchen Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of kitchen operations, including staff management, budgeting, inventory control, food quality, and compliance with health and safety regulations. This role ensures efficient and profitable kitchen performance while maintaining high standards for food quality and customer satisfaction. The Kitchen Manager works closely with the General Manager and other departments to optimize operational workflows.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Supervise Kitchen Staff:

    Lead, develop, and motivate the entire kitchen team to ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality operations.

    Hire, train, evaluate, and coach kitchen staff; manage scheduling and labor allocation to optimize productivity and control labor costs.

    Delegate tasks and responsibilities while holding team members accountable for performance and compliance with standards.

    Foster a positive work environment and resolve staff conflicts promptly.

    Ensure all employees adhere strictly to safety, sanitation, and organizational policies.

    Food Preparation & Quality Control:

    Oversee all food preparation, cooking, and presentation, maintaining strict adherence to company standards and recipes.

    Monitor food quality and consistency; implement corrective actions when necessary to uphold high standards.

    Ensure all food safety guidelines are followed, including correct cooking temperatures and proper storage.

    Inventory & Stock Management:

    Manage inventory control, including forecasting, ordering, and receiving supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.

    Track food usage and waste to minimize loss and control food costs.

    Health & Safety Compliance:

    Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations across the kitchen.

    Lead regular kitchen inspections and internal audits; prepare for and coordinate external health inspections.

    Ensure proper maintenance of kitchen equipment and facilities; arrange repairs as necessary.

    Develop and maintain cleaning schedules and safety protocols; train staff on compliance and safety best practices.

    Operational Efficiency:

    Collaborate with front-of-house management to ensure timely and efficient food service during peak hours.

    Monitor kitchen workflow and equipment usage; identify bottlenecks or issues and implement solutions.

    Use performance metrics and reports to optimize labor scheduling, reduce costs, and improve productivity.

    Oversee maintenance of kitchen equipment and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.

    Reporting & Communication:

    Prepare and submit regular reports on kitchen performance, food costs, labor costs, and inventory to the General Manager.

    Communicate effectively with the General Manager and other departments to coordinate operations and resolve issues.

    Participate in management meetings to align kitchen goals with overall business objectives.

    Provide ongoing feedback and updates to kitchen staff to ensure continuous improvement.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Assistant Manager, or similar supervisory role (3+ years preferred).

    Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, budgeting, food safety regulations, and labor laws.

    Excellent leadership and team-building skills with the ability to manage and develop staff.

    Experience with inventory management, cost control, and vendor relations.

    Proficient in scheduling and labor cost optimization.

    Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

    Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

    Valid Food Handler’s Permit required (or ability to obtain).

    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to analyze data and prepare reports for upper management.

    Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

    Physical Demands:

    Ability to stand and move around for extended periods of time.

    Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 lbs.

    Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed during food prep or when cleaning.

    May include office work or computer tasks

    Working Conditions:

    Work takes place in a fast-paced kitchen environment with occasional loud noise levels during busy times.

    The position requires interaction with kitchen staff and other departments.

    Must be comfortable working under pressure during peak times and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
