Kitchen Staff / Cook – Adventures in Learning (Preschool/Childcare Center)

Position: Full‑Time Kitchen Staff / Cook Location: Atlantic City, NJ Compensation: $17-$18 per hour

Position Summary

Adventures in Learning is seeking a dependable, organized, and safety‑minded Kitchen Staff/Cook to support our childcare center’s daily meal operations. The ideal candidate has prior experience preparing meals in volume, follows strict cleanliness and safety standards, and is comfortable assisting with basic childcare needs when required.

This role is essential to keeping our center running smoothly—supporting nutrition, maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen, and contributing to a positive environment for children and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Meal Preparation — Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for multiple classrooms following center menus and portion guidelines.

Monthly Menu Planning — Assist in creating the monthly food schedule/menu in alignment with licensing and nutritional standards.

Inventory Management — Track food, paper goods, and cleaning supplies; notify leadership when items need to be reordered.

Kitchen Cleanliness — Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times; follow all food safety and hygiene protocols.

Laundry Duties — Wash and fold center laundry (bedding, towels, etc.) as scheduled.

Child Assistance — Support staff as needed with:

Escorting a child to the bathroom

Changing diapers (training provided)

Supervising children during nap time or brief coverage moments

Compliance & Safety — Follow all state licensing regulations, allergy protocols, and center policies.

Qualifications

Prior Cooking Experience in a childcare center, school, cafeteria, or commercial kitchen preferred.

Ability to prepare multiple meals at once and follow structured menus.

Strong understanding of food safety, cleanliness standards, and cross‑contamination prevention.

Comfortable working around children and assisting with basic childcare tasks.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

Must pass background checks and meet state childcare requirements.

Schedule

Full‑time, Monday–Friday 8am-4:30pm. No nights, weekends, or major holidays.
