Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Steward to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring that all kitchen equipment and utensils are washed, sanitized, and ready for use. The Kitchen Steward will also support the kitchen staff by assisting with food preparation and maintaining overall kitchen hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning Duties:
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas, including dishwashing stations, storage areas, and kitchen surfaces.
- Ensure that all kitchen waste is disposed of properly and recyclables are sorted appropriately.
- Supportive Tasks:
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes as directed by the kitchen staff.
- Help maintain inventory by keeping track of supplies and notifying management of low stock levels.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring all items are properly labeled and stored in their designated locations.
- Safety and Hygiene:
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
- Adhere to health inspection standards and prepare the kitchen for inspections when necessary.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively and helping out where needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence in kitchen cleanliness.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Must be physically able to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods.
