    Reports to: Energy Program Manager

    FLSA Class: Non-Exempt

    Job Type: Full Time

    Salary : $20.50/ hr

    This position works directly with individuals seeking Puget Sound Energy (PSE) assistance with their energy bills. Primary responsibilities include assessing client needs, screening for all PSE programs eligibility, processing client applications, identifying resources within the agency and community, and responding to all phone and email inquiries in a timely manner.

    DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES

    1. Reports to and accepts assignments from the Energy Program Manager.
    2. Screens clients for program eligibility for all PSE related programs.
    3. Navigates and performs data entry within PSE databases and ensures all digital and paper files are accurate.
    4. Identifies client needs, provides intake services, and advocates for clients when appropriate.
    5. Provides basic information and referral service to agency programs and community partners.
    6. Maintains all required client documentation and ensures that all files are complete and accurate for audit and internal control purposes.
    7. Sends out and receives physical & digital documentation to applicants.
    8. Submits pledges and obtains usage histories from energy vendors.
    9. Tracks all client pledges for PSE programs and calls in pledges to energy vendors to prevent disconnection of service or to reconnect service.
    10. Tracks all completed, pending, denied, and over income applications.
    11. Maintains good working relationships with community partners and energy vendors.
    12. Provides energy assistance at outstations in the community on occasion.
    13. Coordinates with team to design systems to reach project goals.
    14. Attends and participates in program and agency staff meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
    15. Accepts other job-related duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Reaching/stretching, intermittent sitting, twisting, and bending
    2. Repetitive computer/keyboard work in an office environment
    3. Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds
    4. Quickly and accurately navigate & enter data into computer software applications
    5. Effectively communicate with individuals with a broad range of backgrounds and circumstances, in a positive and non-judgmental manner
    6. Maintain accuracy and speed in completion of related tasks such as calculations, data entry, documentation, filing, etc.
    7. Excellent communication with other staff, good judgment, and the ability to remain calm and provide appropriate advice and information.
    8. This position provides crisis intervention for a high volume of clients on a daily basis and requires de-escalation skills and conflict management when necessary.
    9. Recognize and be able to work compassionately with vulnerable populations such as the elderly, disabled, mentally ill, as well as those with a history of alcohol and/or substance abuse.

    REQUIRED EDUCAT ION/ EXPERIENCE

    1. High School Diploma or GED plus 1 year of experience/education in social services or related field or High School Diploma or GED plus 1 year of experience/education in computer data entry or related field
    2. Preferred: Bi-Lingual is a plus (e.g., Spanish)
    3. Preferred: prior experience in a similar utility-related, clerical administration program

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    1. Demonstrated ability to consistently pay attention to detail and follows instructions
    2. Ability to type a minimum of 60 wpm
    3. Accurate math skills and ability to use a 10-key calculator to perform appropriate calculations
    4. Proficiency in the operation of personal computer programs and perform data entry
    5. Cognitive ability to coordinate and track delivery of direct services for a wide variety of clients
    6. Collaborates with other staff members to reach program goals
    7. Able to manage the effects of stress related to working with clients in crisis
    8. Understands de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques
    9. Recognizes the socio-economic problems and needs of low-income populations
    10. Demonstrates successful ability to interact positively and directly with low-income households and community partners
    11. Successfully pass a Washington State Patrol Criminal Background Check
