    DIVISION: Housing & Community Support Services

    REPORTS TO: Weatherization Manager

    FLSA CLASS: Non exempt

    JOB TYPE: Full Time

    SALARY:  $18.05

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Perform weatherization pre-audits of single family projects in accordance with federal, state, city, and utility program requirements. Educate clients on energy conservation, install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Contribute to ongoing program improvements and participate in related trainings and forums.

    Possibility of position turning into Certified Energy Auditor

    Must have proof of COVID Vaccination

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • Requires 2 years education/experience in residential construction or weatherization related experience

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

    • Knowledge of HVAC principles and energy conservation theory
    • Knowledge of TREAT or similar energy efficiency software
    • Knowledge of diagnostic tools used in performance of weatherization audits
    • Knowledge of blower doors
    • Knowledge of combustion analyzers
    • Proficient in MS office applications

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Willing to work outside in all types of weather with potential exposure to hazardous conditions resulting from varied disrepair of buildings, sometimes including garbage and rodents
    • Must have the ability to climb ladders, crawl under buildings, including crawl spaces, attics, and walking on roofs
    • Good problem solving, analytical and negotiation skills
    • Able to multi-task multiple projects at the same time and work both independently and as a positive team member
    • Ability to work with diverse populations including low-income clients
    •  Ability to pass a Washington State criminal background check

    LICENSE(S) AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

    • Acquire Building Performance Institute Energy Auditor/Quality Control Inspector (BPI) – within 1 year of hire
    • Valid Washington State Driver's License

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES

    1. Reports to Weatherization Manager and accepts team assignments.

    2. Makes contact and gathers required information for Pre-audits from clients.

    3. Independently performs basic pre-audits, checking homes for insulation levels (walls, under floors, ceilings) and structural integrity (walls, floors, roofs).

    4. Identifies primary and secondary heat sources.

    5.  Identifies any combustion appliances, educates clients on conservation education.

    6. Installs smoke & CO detectors.

    7.  Installs LED lightbulbs.

    8. Makes rough drawings of homes, detailing all door and window openings and sizes. Takes and documents all measurements for floor plans.

    9. Attends state and local trainings as requested, occasional travel required.

    10. Accepts other duties as assigned

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL FUNCTIONS

    • Requires walking, reaching/stretching, intermittent sitting
    • Twisting, crawling in confined spaces, bending
    • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
    • Climbing ladders and walking on roofs.
    • Requires accuracy, good communication and good judgment
    • Ability to remain calm and provide appropriate advice and information
    • Must be able to exhibit regular attendance.
