    What you will do

    Employees must ensure that all tasks and job duties are completed. This is a hybrid role in which you will perform the role of a business analyst and software engineer combined, offering support and guidance to the new employees during their early employment period. You will be responsible for the detailed preparation of the solution concept selected in the design phase as the basis for the order execution and for the development of control engineering solutions for our customers using innovative information technology.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    Responsible for the customer communication/clarification of details

    Creating interface documents, specification sheets, internal documents for project-executing departments, and test plans (factory, internal, and customer-specific acceptance tests)

    Participate in factory acceptance testing and internal testing

    Create development requests

    Organize and participate in planning meetings with the mechanical, hardware, and electrical engineers

    Provide support to the project-implementing departments (Planning, Development, Commissioning, etc.)

    Conduct continuous updating of customer-specific SW-documents during the change order execution and responsible for the integration of the change requests

    Check the layout for the feasibility of the software processes

    Support Project Management

    Monitor and address any deviations from the original scope of supply

    Coordinate customer projects with the software suppliers

    Provide support to the new employees

    Develop and improve planning documents

    Perform internal review of work from other employees in the department (e.g., documents produced for customer’s approval)

    Responsible for Controls Information and knowledge transfer for the department (local at SWENG KUS) and within your own special field (including setting up and driving associated processes)

    Build up additional knowledge through external material, optimizing the flow of ideas and effective solutions, e.g., stay apprised of current trends and innovations, study applicable marketing and new technical material, attend seminars on relevant topics, etc.

    Actively support the stakeholders in the department, by asking and determining, who needs information/ ongoing updates on the subject, in what granularity, and for what purpose

    Engage in active knowledge transfer not only of self-development but also of others in relevant to the industry topics (through lectures, trainings, further education, expert advice, and/or problem-solving)

    Prepare provision of modern specialist training materials (e.g., eLearning)

    Support department management with the development and implementation of assigned strategic initiatives

    Perform administrative tasks to support the Supervisor (e.g., approval of hours for other team members in KNAPP’s time-tracking system)

    Other duties as assigned

    What you need

    B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Logistics, related discipline, or equivalent work experience (required)

    3+ years of intralogistics automation software and process design experience (required)

    5+ years with KNAPP (preferred)

    Excellent knowledge of intralogistics, automated storage systems, and understanding of complex processes

    Strong knowledge of intralogistics/automation software architecture (WMS, WCS, SRC), interface communication, programming, databases, and data structures

    Strong knowledge of inventory strategies commonly deployed in the process of warehousing

    Sound understanding of system components of KNAPP-Group (Function, software, hardware)

    Sound understanding of complex processes in the workflow of our customers

    Sound understanding of integration possibilities of the KNAPP system into customer environment

    Ability to plan and hold meetings with the planning team and customers

    Knowledge of picking technologies such as automated storage systems, goods-to-person, voice, PTL, A-frames, unit sorters, and different methods of deployment of each technology

    Computer skills (MS Office, KNAPP-internal tools)

    Language skills: English required; bilingual preferred

    Working Conditions

    Authorization to work in the U.S.

    Professional office etiquette is always required

    Required to go beyond the standard working hours to fulfill workload requirements.

    Travel is required (ca. 30%)

    Physical requirements may include sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length
