    OVERVIEW:  Management Science Associates, Inc., (MSA) is a diversified information management company that for over half a century has given market leaders the competitive edge in data management, analytics and technology. We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator II to join the MSA Information Management Solutions (IMS) division which has been offering data and insight solutions to the Consumer Package Goods industry since the early 1980s.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Designs, installs, and maintains complex functions of major database systems including access, allocations, validity checks, security, documentation and tuning
    • Design, implement and support databases using Oracle RDBMS
    • Develops programs using PL/SQL
    • Leads and conducts complex backup, recovery and query tuning
    • Serves as interface between users and information systems/processing specialists
    • Builds compliant databases, writing scripts in SQL, UNIX commands, and shell scripts
    • Write functional and technical specification documents
    • Coordinate testing procedures with Q/A group
    • Troubleshoot and support production systems

    Required Skills

    • Requires a four-year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology
    • Minimum of three years of Oracle DBA work experience
    • Ability to perform complex DBA tasks (e.g.: create databases using complex structures; ensure data security and integrity; perform complex database migrations)
    • Experience using modeling tools such as ERWin
    • Extensive experience using SQL and PL/SQL
    • Ability to write complex UNIX scripts and has an understanding of the UNIX architecture
    • Understands Oracle and OS architecture and interactions between database and applications
    • Thorough understanding of Oracle internal structure and processing such as detailed knowledge of memory structures
    • Can write backup and restore scripts and design a backup strategy
    • Experience monitoring and performance tuning of very large databases required
    • Must have experience with large projects
    • Significant experience in data warehousing database architectures required
    • Experience in OLAP a plus
