    The Finance team is seeking a Senior Accountant to perform complex accounting and financial reporting functions. Working under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accounting Officer will work with various accounting teams, the duties will include: preparing financial statements and reports, performing financial analysis, compiling financial donor reports, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and assisting other teams that report to the Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate will be an adaptable and highly motivated self-starter with solid GAAP and non-profit accounting knowledge, and experience with financial statement preparation.  

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Prepare financial statements for PATH and its affiliates, and supporting schedules and analysis.
    • Analyze and make recommendations on complex and emerging accounting issues.
    • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closes.
    • Compile and prepare financial donor reports.
    • Develop, document and implement recommendations to improve accounting policies, processes and procedures.
    • Assemble responses and reports for high profile filings, financial reports and surveys for governmental agencies and external third parties; (SEFA, NICRA).
    • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual reviews to evaluate transactions posted to the General Ledger for consistency, allowability and compliance with GAAP & PATH policies.
    • Maintain and reconcile a variety of balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
    • Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas.
    • Participate in the close and audit process by preparing and processing various adjustments and journal entries and schedules as required.
    • Assist with global external audits, as assigned.
    • Design and update reports and power point presentation slides and other materials for Board and Leadership financial management meeting presentations.
    • Act as backup for other Finance functions as needed during peak periods.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and ability to research accounting literature
    • Well-rounded accounting experience ranging from verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies, to compiling financial statements and financial donor reports
    • Experience with non-profit accounting principles and procedures strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of accounting systems and experience with global ERP systems (Business World, UNIT 4 is a strong plus)
    • Experience with preparing financial donor reports for a variety of donors
    • Experience with third party reconciliation software (previous use of Blackline is a strong plus)
    • Strong proficiency in the use of productivity software Knowledge of Microsoft productivity software (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel)
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously; capable of rapid coordination and distribution of information
    • Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion.
    • Ability to develop and use various complex tools to data-mine across multiple linked and un-linked PATH systems
    • Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity
    • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making processes and planning
    • Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 preferred
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and effectively address complex and sensitive administrative issues throughout the spectrum of constituents

  • Qualifications
    • Requires a four-year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
    • Product development and product management experience related to technology based solutions.
    • Minimum of ten years overall related information technology experience with at least three years of experience in development management or project management focused on large-scale software systems
    • Experience using an agile/iterative approach for product/project development and implementation efforts
    • PMP Certification highly beneficial
    • Strong people, communication and presentation skills including the ability to articulate and facilitate technical, business, clinical and analytical discussions across all disciplines
    • Ability to act independently, taking accountability for their and others work, yet communicate closely with management for status and direction setting
    • Experience 'wearing multiple hats” – i.e. a diverse set of responsibilities apart from purely being a Project Manager; Product Management or Product Ownership experience highly beneficial
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver a product to the marketplace
    • Demonstrated ability to salvage a troubled project
    • Strong background in one or more areas of a project including: software development, QA, business analysis, product support, systems integration, etc.
    • Experience managing medium to complex software product development project involving: workflow
    • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
    • Organized, detail-oriented problem solver, with good time management skills
    • Proficiency using Project Scheduling tools
