  • Responsibilities

    The RA will assist the Principal Investigator  (PI) with the operation of 1) a study designed to develop and test an online sexual health intervention for sexual minority adolescents, and 2) a study designed to understand the impact of minor consent laws on use of HIV/STI prevention, testing, and treatment services among adolescents. The study team is in the Department of Community Health Sciences at Boston University School of Public Health.

     

    Research Assistant duties include: recruitment of study participants using social media; data collection, entry and management; scheduling and managing youth advisory board participants; assisting with development and maintenance of study protocols, forms, and assessments; assisting with correspondence and other materials needed for audits and reporting to sponsor. The RA will interact with study volunteers in community settings and assist the PI with literature reviews.

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    Candidates should have an interest in public health and/or clinical research.  Specific interest in HIV, sexual health, adolescent health, and/or sexual and gender minority health is a plus. Candidates must be able to travel between MA and RI.

     

    Candidates should be: (1) highly organized and attentive to detail; (2) interpersonally skilled, warm, empathic; (3) highly efficient across a range of tasks and studies; (4) able to work effectively both independently and in a team; (5) have strong written and verbal communication skills; and (6) have strong computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel).

     

    Experience with: (1) behavioral research in a clinic or a public health setting (this experience can be part of educational preparation); (2) REDCap programming; and/or (3) social media advertising and platforms are a plus.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Bachelor’s degree required

    1-3 years of experience required
