PATH in Ethiopia is currently implementing various high impact, evidence based, sustainable programs with the aim of saving and improving the lives of the most vulnerable and underserved women and children in the country in collaboration with Ethiopia’s Federal Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureau, community groups, and other partners.

     

    The COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on the health workforce and demanded leaders’ engagement at large. The very dynamic nature of the pandemic requires proactive thinking, use of evidence for action, close follow up and guidance from the leaders to properly manage and control the impact of the COVID-19 and smooth rollout of COVID-19 vaccine. Therefore, it is important to provide an updated and well analysed data for the leaders for evidence-based decision making, global and regional updates, advises and recommendations that help to provide guidance.

     

    PATH seeks to hire two (02) Regional Leadership, Management and Coordination Technical Assistants. The main purpose of the regional LMC TA is to provide technical assistance for regional MNCH director and EPI coordinator to improve COVID-19 vaccine delivery management and coordination at regional level.

     

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • In collaboration with the national senior technical advisor for LMC, provide global and regional update for regional MNCH director and EPI coordinator.
    • Review regional COVID-19 vaccination performance monthly and submit the findings with advice or recommendations to regional MNCH director and EPI coordinator for decision, guidance, or action.
    • Share the regional performance with national senior technical advisor monthly.
    • Support regional EPI team to review and contextualize national training materials to regions context and translate to local languages when necessary.
    • Support provision of trainings at regional and sub-regional levels.
    • Support regional level EPI team to develop bottom-up micro-plan for COVID-19 vaccine rollout and regularly review and update the plan.
    • Support regional level EPI team to time aggregate and submit the micro-plan to national EPI team.
    • Advice and provide TA for MNCH director and EPI coordinator on regional level decisions and guidance.
    • Provide capacity building support for regional EPI and Woreda EPI team on planning, coordination and management.
    • Support MNCH director and EPI coordinator in their routine activities that need decisions.
    • Support and facilitate regional level review meetings; prepare regional level presentation for the review meeting.
    • Conduct regular field monitoring and evaluation missions to Zones and Woredas to oversee the leadership, management, and coordination performances and to provide on-the-job training to improve leadership, planning and coordination at Zonal and Woreda levels.
    • Other activities as needed by regional MNCH director and EPI coordinator.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Master’s degree in public health, health service management and leadership and management or any other relevant field.
    • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in public health programming, policy, or research, with at least five (5) years’ experience in the area of immunization and maternal/child health programs.
    • Experience in leadership and management.
    • Formal training in and demonstrated understanding of leadership, technical assistance, and mentoring.
    • Hands-on experience in designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, interventions and/or strategies is highly desirable.
    • Proven ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with government, partners, donors, and international organizations at various levels.
    • Skilled in successfully working with geographically dispersed teams and working in a multi-cultural environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, including cross-cultural teams.
    • Experience in preparing presentation for higher level and strategic meetings.
    • Strong writing, analytical and communication skills, including development of compelling presentations (in Microsoft PowerPoint) and documents (in Microsoft Word).
    • Strong command of English and Amharic language required
    • Ability to write, read and speak local language is compulsory.
    • Ability to travel to regions, estimated to be about 40%.
    • Must have legal authorization to work in Ethiopia.

  • Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or relevant, equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 5+ years as a Sr. Account Executive or Account Supervisor in a full service agency
    • Media savvy - print, tv, radio, and interactive
    • Must be computer literate with proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook/Express with the ability to learn new computer systems.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with people at all levels of an organization
    • Proven leadership abilities and managerial experience
