    Trustmark Health Benefits is currently seeking a Senior Underwriting Executive in our Northeast Region.  The key focus of this position is to provide underwriting guidance of new, as well as renewal self-funded clients, specifically in the stop loss area.  The responsibilities of this role include building strong relationships with stop loss carriers to maximize account retention, renewal increases and regional growth.  Internally this position works closely with Client Management, Sales and Claims.  Externally this position interacts with Brokers and Stop Loss Carriers.  

     

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    Develops and builds strong relationships with stop loss carriers.

    Negotiates best possible terms for client in order to maximize Trustmark Health Benefits retention and renewal increases.

    Analyzes concerns and creates compelling pricing options.

    Strategizes with Client Management and Sales to meet growth and retention goals.

    Analyzes monthly reports with Client Management, Sales and Brokers to create customized solutions.

    Prepares and maintains stop loss data and historical client information for business analysis.

    Partners with Client Management and Sales to gain clear understanding of clients’ issues and develops customized options and pricing to address needs.

    Analyzes all Request for Proposal (RFP) data that comes in and creates target pricing and determines best carriers to submit for consideration.

    Communicates carrier policies and procedure changes to Client Management and Sales.

    Works closely with Regional President/Sales Executive to prepare competitive administrative rate proposals for prospective clients.

    Works closely with Regional President/Sales Executive to prepare competitive administrative rate renewals for clients.

    Maintains solid knowledge of existing and new products, services, networks, vendors, partners and subcontractors.

    Acts as SME to internal customers.

    Provides support to internal customers, Regional President, Client Management and Sales.

    Provides management and leadership to direct report, which includes:

    • Daily workflow
    • Career development
    • Coaching
    • Performance management
    • Development opportunities

    Other duties as assigned

     

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • College degree or equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 years experience with underwriting, RFPs, proposals in a TPA industry
    • Prior leadership experience preferred
    • Excellent collaboration skills
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Professional written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to facilitate or present to groups of people
    • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, under tight timelines while balancing multiple requests
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
    • Ability to interact with all organizational leaders, clients, brokers and customers
    • Proven track record of having the ability to work effectively with a team, sharing responsibilities and helping in other areas as requested
    • Ability to make decisions, ask questions and challenge the process, when appropriate
    • Demonstrated negotiating skills
    • Salesforce experience preferred

  • Qualifications
    • B.A./B.S. in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field(s), and three to five years business writing experience.

    • Strong attention to detail, professional demeanor, and collaboration skills.

    • A good understanding of search engine marketing

    • Work independently, and in a team

    • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a short period of time, handle multiple priorities simultaneously, and operate in a fast-paced work environment

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented and strong ability to multi-task, prioritize work responsibilities and meet deadlines, and work on a cross-functional team

    • Experience with Microsoft Word and Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat; and comfort using other technology platforms such as WordPress.
